Mrs. Eagle was a teacher until illness forced her to retire. She was appalled at the food that was thrown away every day.

The kids were not allowed to take anything home even though more than half the kids were from "poor" households. The school was not allowed to donate the food to a local homeless shelter or food bank or any other organization that fed the poor and homeless.

And heaven forbid that the food should be put back into the refrigerator for next day's use.

Be nice to have that government contract.

I did some research a while back on the government’s takeover of waste food donations through the Feeding America program.

Businesses are “encouraged” through huge tax write offs, advertising opportunities and P.R. initiatives to channel all their useable food waste through this government entity and not through local faith-based charities.

Of course the high-six figure salaried director of this program in a lady from you guessed it….

Chicago.

Feeding America has a Political action blog http://hungeractioncenter.org/ that businesses are “encouraged” to donate to as well.
