Can these symbolic gestures actually work? I have doubts.

Yeah, that’ll make up for all the Mexicans murdered by Fast & Furious, as documented by Univision.

After seeing the headline, I thought that it may have come from The Onion.

Wasn’t Cesar Chavez’s main goal to organize Mexican-American citizen and legal resident farm workers? And didn’t he oppose illegal immigration because it drove down the wages of legal workers?

That’s what I recall, and I doubt those points will be made at the ceremony.

But that sure won’t stop the shameless panderer during his reelection bid.

I remember back in the day when Chavez’s goons were around here trying to unionize the farm workers. We had a bus full of pickers and they refused to get off the bus until we promised them more money and my husband said go home. They came back the next day and got off the bus and started picking. They told my husband that they beat the crap out of that guy.

The funny thing is that my husband was going to give them more money because it wasn’t a good crop and he knew it was going to cost more to pick it.

This is not the Venezuela Chavez. This Chavez organized farm workers, for better pay, latrines and water to wash with, and protection from pesticides. Of course, being Labor I’m sure he did some bad things too.
