home made sauSAGE, yummy.. the place where we took the goats for butchering, also made great sausage, that same night we would go back and pick up the hides to prep for tanning...he also made good salami.....GG
I take great joy in stalking the wild ones, but I never go by myself and I have 2 firearms chambered in .45-70. One is a Winchester lever-action rifle. The other is a single-shot Thompson Contender.
Guarantee either one will stop a charging hog and the Contender can be carried in a shoulder holster. Just keep a pouch of reloads on your belt.
I didn’t realize so many people were killed by pigs each year.
The things one learns on Free Republic.
For the last time, I didn’t push Dorothy into the pig pen!
Rumors that I was present at the scene are completely unfounded!
:)
Interesting that you should mention horses. I trained to be a farrier at a school in Memphis in 1977. I did it off and on as a primary (briefly) and secondary (mostly) job for the next 25 years, until I decided it was not what I wanted to do to my spine in retirement.
We learned to handle rodeo stock, etc. Came in handy over the years.
Got some scars (had a just-driven nail ripped up through my forearm) and some other highlights from working with that most noble of beasts...
Had some good times too.
Actually, your dog is trying to activate a canid reflex: a mother wolf will regurgitate partially eaten food for her cubs.
Your dog wants you to “share the wealth”. ;)
