A truck drives on the Mexican-side of the border fence between Naco and the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation area in this 2007 file photo. Two agents assigned to the Border Patrol's Naco station were shot Tuesday morning. One agent died.

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed and another wounded early today in a shooting near the U.S.-Mexico border.

The agents were on duty near Bisbee when the shooting occurred about 2 a.m., according to various wire reports.

The wounded agent was airlifted to a hospital. He was reportedly shot in the ankle and buttocks, the Associated Press reported.

The agents were assigned to the Naco station. It was recently renamed to honor Brian Terry, who was slain in a shootout with border bandits in 2010 near Nogales. The shooting was later linked to the Fast and Furious gun-smuggling operation.

Thank you Mr obama. It’s not bad enough that you’re getting our folks killed everyday in raghead land, now you’re getting them killed here too.
You, sir are the second biggest threat to this nation. The first danger to our country is the media that continues to ignore all the crap you do and have done.

“.............The Border Patrol station in question was named after slain Agent Brian Terry, whose murder brought the Obama Administration’s deadly Operation Fast and Furious to a screeching halt, because weapons deliberately ”walked” across the border by ATF agents were recovered from the scene. At the present time, there is no indication that the weapons used in this new attack came from Operation Fast and Furious.

Terry wasn’t the only U.S. law enforcement agent killed by weapons Eric Holder’s Justice Department lost track of. The big Univision report on Fast and Furious confirmed something that serious students of the scandal (i.e. not mainstream media reporters) have long suspected: Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agent Jaime Zapata was killed with a “walked” gun in February 2011. The Zapata murder weapon was “not from Arizona and Fast and Furious,” but came from “a very similar operation,” according to court testimony from Zapata’s sister.

The leading congressional investigators of Fast and Furious, Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), have asked the Inspector General of the Justice Department to investigate Zapata’s murder.”

“A Border Patrol agent was killed and another wounded, presumably by drug smugglers, in a dangerous drug smuggling corridor in Arizona near the Mexico border. The shootings occurred near the Brian Terry station in Naco TX, which was recently renamed to honor Terry who was killed in the line of duty in December 2010.

The Arizona – Mexico border is the most dangerous because it is so rugged that giant fences can’t be built. That’s why so much smuggling, both drug and human, happens there. Also, Tohono O’Odham nation land crosses the border. This adds more complexity to the problem because it is sovereign land and US law enforcement isn’t allowed there.

The drug cartels have better weapons and technology than law enforcement in the US. They frequently have spotters in high areas with night vision goggles and radios (and well as full auto rifles.) Sheriff Paul Babeu says there are entire areas in Pinal County that are not under control of the US. He’s not exaggerating.”

Each dead border agent gives Obama 2.5% in polls.

One news report stated the US Border Agents were patrolling on horseback when attacked. Another report suggested it occurred in a small border town. ????

I read three agents were on horseback investigating (around 2AM) after an alarm was triggered along the fence.

I agree with #7

I looked at the piture. Where is the razor wire across the top of that fence. Any half physical human could climb over that.
