really? i didnt know that we directly elected members of the supreme court...Don't directly elect the president either.
And prior to the 17th Amendment, we didn't directly elect Senators, either.

Just think, we would likely have at least 1 GOP senator in Michigan right now if it weren't for the 17th amendment.

Exactly! There was a reason for that. The Founders only flaw was in not making the Constitution even harder to amend.
