Democrats' voter-registration effort swamps GOP's (FL)
Orlando Sentinel ^ | 10/2/12 | Scott Powers

Since the Republican Legislature passed laws last year to regulate groups that independently register voters in Florida, Democrats have swamped Republicans in registering new voters.

State elections data show that, through Sept. 24, the Florida Democratic Party had registered more than 230,741 new voters since the laws went into effect July 1, 2011. Republicans had turned in just 46,373 new voter registrations during that time.

Still, both parties are bucking a strong tide against them. In the past four years, the number of voters registered "No Party Affiliation" — the principal category for unaligned voters — has increased by 282,000. That compares with a 73,000 increase in the number of registered Republicans and an actual decline of 140,000 in registered Democrats.

Overall, the state of Florida reports 11.4 million registered voters — up 200,000 from 2008, the year of the previous presidential election — as elections supervisors prepare to close the voter rolls Oct. 9.

“Something to be worried about???”

If there is any truth to it, definitely.

They still lost 140,000 net.

A really weird article. Republicans up by 73,000, Democrats down by 140,000, even with Democrats registering 240k new voters to Republicans registering 40k new voters?

I wonder just how they massaged these statistics.

Democrats register 200k new voters than Republicans, but are down 210k voters overall...

Democrats have 200,000 less registered voters than in 2008 when they won. McCain lost by less than 200,000 and was a terrible candidate. Republicans have the enthusiasm this time too on their side and will have with a higher percentage turnout, while the dems turnout will be lower. Actually really reading between the lines should make you more hopeful for Florida.

The dems have been very aggressive in voter registration efforts here in VA. It`s common to see OFA types sitting at storefronts registering voters. Nothing from the GOP. We were warned about 0bama`s ground game... did the warnings go unheeded?

The Orlando Slantinal is owned by the Chicago Tribune and bucking to become the most far left rag in Florida and DNC propaganda central.
Packed full of hard core Leftists .

IN 2010, the Slantinal peddled a series of push poll with old Quinnipec Univ ( the official DNC media push pollster) including one on Election Day with a HUGE HEADLINE STATING SCOTT was going to LOSE by 5 points !
Well ,Scott won and this commie rag continue to lie and spit out propaganda like this jewel.

As a side note: Polls show Romney up by 12% with Indys. In Florida that translates to over 700,000 vote advantage.

I wonder how many of those registrations are valid. 5%? 6%? Thanks to the scumbags at the DOJ and their so called "judges", voter fraud is rampant.

How many times does a person need to register to vote anyway? I'll bet this banana republic is closing in on 1 billion registrations.

The Democrats are busy stealing Florida. What is the GOP going to do about that when tens of thousands of absentee ballots flood in two days before the election day? They’d better have Plans A, B, and C in place.

Don’t believe so. The ground game has been really good. Perhaps our weak point has been registration, but the extreme great ground game otherwise is much better than Obama.

Dems ground game basically is registering voters. We focus on getting our voters to the polls.
