Gibbs: Obama believes Katrina response failures were ‘colorblind’
The Hill ^

Posted on 10/03/2012 8:12:57 AM PDT by TigerClaws

Senior Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs dismissed claims from conservative media outlets that the president believed the botched federal response to Hurricane Katrina was influenced by race.

In an interview with "CBS This Morning" on Wednesday, Gibbs was asked about a video of then-Illinois Sen. Obama delivering a speech in 2007 in which he discussed the anger many African-Americans affected by the 2005 storm’s devastation felt at Washington’s mishandled relief efforts.

“The president says the incompetence surrounding the federal government’s response to Katrina in 2005 was colorblind,” said Gibbs. “If the Republicans want to defend the Bush administration’s response to Katrina, I’m sure the president would give them ample time during the debate to do that.”

Obama and Biden voted against aid for Katrina.

Lo and behold, it was actually reported on CNN

But you can’t believe what you saw and heard. You have to believe what they TELL you what you saw and heard.

Obama has a real dilemma with Katrina. If he blames it on the federal government the guy most in charge seems to be gay ~ and if he blames it on the state of Louisiana, the woman in charge seems to be female.

These are both untouchable Democrat constituencies.

So, what to do , what to do ~ oh, talk about what ANGRY BLACKS SAY ~ which is a lot different than talking about the Katrina situation.

A clue for Romney ~ talk about what ANGRY BLACKS SAY about nearly 4 years of 53% unemployment.

That'd give him a neat segway out of the 47% confoundment.

Well, since the problem was a democrat governor who would not let FEMA in her state because she wanted an agreement that she would have control over the Feds before they were allowed in and not that FEMA and the Bush administration were not ready to respond since they were stuck at the border sitting and waiting for her highness to allow them in......

Gee, with one party in control of the media it is amazing what one can do to real history, blocking knowledge and with fake talking points.

Just wow. It should be pointed out that Big Government is incompetent when it comes to dealing with local issues and that local governments are best for dealing with local issues. Katrina was not a National Disaster. It was regional. And New Orleans, if run by competent individuals, would have been better off if local government were not so dependent on the big teat. You did not see other areas suffer in the same way.

They aren't that good. There is a snappy response to that crap if just one somebody on our side would get out of the fetal position in the corner and deliver it.

Claims by conservative media?? Obama blames racism for the fed’s response to Katrina, on video no less, but the claim comes from “conservative media”?

If asked tonight about the video, I think Romney should say something along these lines: “I don’t want to get into the details of the video, because, as we’ve seen in recent weeks, it’s not very wise to point to a specific You Tube video and make assumptions about serious issues based strictly from a video. I do think it’s interesting however, to note that Barack Obama and Joe Biden were the only two U.S. Senators to vote against aid for the victims of Katrina.”

Once we send a slow pitch over the plate and they hit it out of the park, nobody cares what the snappy outfielders do.

Yeah, I want to defend Bush's response to Katrina.

But I'm sure Gibbs is thinking about the narrative the corrupt MSM hung around Bush. (Thank you, Karl Rove, for never daring a response to the corrupt MSM.)
