Fast & Furious now officially a campaign issue
Seattle Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 3 October, 2012 | Dave Workman

Operation Fast and Furious has officially been elevated to the status of “campaign issue,” courtesy of a new fund-raising solicitation mailed by Republican vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan, just as Barack Obama and Mitt Romney prepare to square off Wednesday evening.

Partisans on both sides in Washington State will be glued to their flat screen televisions, same as they were for Tuesday night's gubernatorial debate on KCTS. The Seattle Times also notes that Michelle Obama blew through town Tuesday, picking up more money from a state Democrats take for granted, which a growing number of people living outside the I-5 corridor find insulting.

The Times is ginned up for the debate with a story, and tips on what to watch for.

This column suggested yesterday that if moderator Jim Lehrer accedes to demands by the Brady Campaign and family members of Batman massacre victims to ask the candidates about their solutions to “gun violence,” Romney has an opportunity to move the debate to Fast and Furious.

Politico and the Washington Times are both writing about the new solicitation, and so is National Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea.

The issue of gun rights versus gun control has been lurking in the shadows of this campaign all along. As this column noted, the Democrat and Republican platforms regarding gun rights are dramatically different. Gun owners see a second Obama term as a looming Second Amendment disaster, while Obama defenders counter that he really has done nothing to limit gun rights.

Will the new media overcome the legacy medias ability to coverup by omission? It did with Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky, but there were more legacy media players with a conscience back then.

F & F will be an issue if and when Mr. Romney would like to make it one.

So far, he has not.

I would love to see Mitt bring this topic up at the debate and make it a true campaign issue.

If that happened I don’t see how the MSM could ignore it much longer.

How ungrateful of these Mexicans. And after King Barry Hussein I granted them soft amnesty too.

Univision's Fast & Furious Report (English Subtitles).

Worth watching. ABC did a precis (Univision is their partner) but it was a whitewash.
