First lady Michelle Obama called contraception “basic preventative care” and invoked her daughters before talking about women’s “decisions about our bodies” during a campaign fundraising event Tuesday.
The first lady spoke at the Westin Hotel in Seattle where, according to the White House press pool report, about 700 attended, paying between $500 and $10,000.
“Insurance companies now have to cover basic preventative care – things like contraception, cancer screenings – at no out-of-pocket cost,” Michelle Obama said, referring to the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare. “They won’t be able to discriminate against you because you have a preexisting condition like diabetes or even asthma.”
A product of the new health care law was a regulation issued by the Department of Health and Human Services that requires all employer-health insurance plans to provide free abortifacients, sterilization and contraception.
Numerous religious organizations and other employers have sued the administration over the mandate because such a regulation would violate the First Amendment guarantee to free exercise of religion.
The first lady went on to talk about her husband President Barack Obama’s commitment to women.
“Believe me, today, as a father, he knows what it means to want our daughters to have the same freedoms and opportunities as our sons, and that is why the first bill he signed into law was to make sure that women get equal pay for equal work,” the first lady said.
“And that is why my husband will always, always fight to ensure that we, as women, can make our own decisions about our bodies and our health care,” she added.

As a medical professional, I can say that pregnancy is the Normal Healthy state of the uterus (she brought it up), so, they are NOT preventing illness.

Second a much stronger case can be made for ED medication being covered than contraceptives which are not for an actual medical condition in all but the most rare instances. At least ED is a valid medical condition but who cares as all legislation seems geared to who is the most emotional.

I am so FED UP with having this CRAP disguised as equality or women’s rights or compassion or whatever the hell they want to call it, crammed down our throats.
I do not support my tax dollars being spent on your women Michelle.
Here’s a question for you, Michelle: If it’s “free choice” to have an abortion, why isn’t it free CHOICE not to have SEX unless and until a woman can PURCHASE HER OWN contraceptives??? Or split the cost with her partner? Huh? Is a woman destined to have unprotected sex? Is it because she’s a “victim” that she can’t decide to get contraceptives herself?
Honestly, this is an absurd thought process to start with, but I tell you what- it INFURIATES me that I’m now forced to pay for some irresponsible girl’s birth control pills. It is NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY.

God provided us with cost free contraception! The knowledge snd self control are too much for most I guess.
