The 2010 Conservative manifesto promised to repatriate EU powers in three areas. This was blocked by the Lib Dems, but the Tories remain committed to such a treaty renegotiation. Yet opting out of certain EU policy areas is not a comprehensive solution. Opt-outs are vulnerable to the federalizing bias of the European Court of Justice (ECJ). The Working Time directive was imposed by majority voting—under health and safety provisions—even though the Conservative government had an opt-out from the Social Chapter at the time.
Instead of relying on a limited number of insecure opt-outs, we should turn the system around and create a Europe of opt-ins, whereby nothing is binding unless explicitly agreed. …

The EUSSR is not the only problem. Unless the politicians of the UK change, nothing will be different. Look at Norway. It’s not an EU member, and it’s still a hellhole with rampant Islamic supremacy and few real freedoms.
Who was it who handed the EU keys to the capital? The British government. The Lib/Lab/Con trio. Nobody invaded. If freedom will come to Europe, it won’t start in the UK. My bet is Finland. The True Finns are closer than ever to victory, and they won’t only withdraw from the EU (by default, they won’t pay for Spain and Italy), but will end multiculturalism and out of control immigration, get back to promoting being Finnish.
At present, Switzerland is the only free country outside of the far eastern bloc. A proud moment for them when they banned Minarets. The EU was furious and they could do nothing about it. :D
Switzerland isn’t as free as you might think. There has been plenty of cooperation with the Bundeswehr and Luftwaffe over the years, so neutrality is out the door. The EU has been pretty relentless in trying to force that country to join. And as for banning minarets, they have plenty of countries on the continent that are sympathetic to the notion, perhaps enough to sway that union towards a universal ban of same.
Norway is part of an “alternate EU” of sorts known as the European Economic Area. Members have to abide by EU directives especially relating to trade. It’s also part of the Schengen Area, a bizarre treaty manifestation of the EU that allows visa-free travel from country to country within said area.
Don’t want to hear about the True Finns; they are interested in progressive taxation, re-establishment of their country’s wealth tax, agricultural subsidy and opposition to the death penalty. Just another version of the Social Democrats but with a nationalistic bent (sound vaguely familiar?)
Have you ever been to Norway, I wonder? I'm a frequent visitor: and anywhere less like a hellhole I would find it difficult to imagine.
