A relaxed Romney rolls by out-of-sync Obama in first presidential debate
Miami Herald ^ | October 4, 2012 | Marc Caputo

The presidential debate hyped as an exercise in meticulously planned zingers had little zing.

And President Obama was doubly zinger-less Wednesday night in Denver.

He was flat. He meandered more than Republican Mitt Romney.

Obama used lots of numbers. But it sounded like a calculus lesson. It wasn’t the 2+2=4 math that proves a point during a debate.

And there was a more important figure he missed: 47.

That’s the percentage of non income-taxpaying citizens whom Romney seemed to denigrate in a recently released hidden-video, which played right into the Democrats’ narrative about making Romney the out-of-touch rich man.

But Obama never mentioned it.

And when the debate started, it was Romney talking about the little guy.

Romney was the phrase-coiner fretting about “trickle-down government.” Romney was the great communicator, starting off by congratulating the president on his 20-year wedding anniversary with his wife, Michelle.

“I’m sure this was the most romantic place you could imagine here — here with me,” Romney said.

Ordered to be silent, the crowd couldn’t help itself. People laughed. Obama smiled.

By night’s end, though, liberals from HBOs Bill Maher to MSNBC’s Ed Schultz were in head-shaking disbelief.

Awwwwwwww. All that hard work by the press went unrewarded.

I think it threw Obama off as it was in Denver.

“Denver? Where are all my Greek Columns? Last time I was in Denver I had my Greek Columns.”

Can you imagine how ready Romney was for the "47%" comment?

He was prepared for war, and somewhere there's a great writer seriously pissed off that Romney never got to use whatever line he had written for him.

But not to fear, that bullet is still in the gun.

The great Obama has just proven that without his teleprompter he is a worse public speaker than Carter.

It just might be Syria. Turkey and Syria have been lobbing shells at each other the last couple days. Turkey being a NATO member might be the excuse Obama needs to distract the public, by shelling Syria in support of Turkey. Of course, Obama isn't a leader and won't think of it, and Hillary probably won't tip him off to this opportunity.

Some doctors say it takes many days for an out-of-towner to acclimate to the Denver altitude - oxygen in the blood and all.
I know - I visit there from time to time.

‘Where are all my Greek columns?’
and/or
‘Why does my brain have no oxygen - - ?’

“I think it threw Obama off as it was in Denver.”

Maybe, but more likely that he’s just plain lazy. He thinks actually having to do the job is beneath him. And besides, it interferes with his trip to Boulder Dam yesterday when he should have been practicing, his copious golf outings, and the multitudinous. multibillion dollar “family” vacations on the taxpayers dime!

Idiot....the reason he didn’t mention the 47% is because the Dems don’t want to REMIND the OTHER 53% that they are CARRYING the 47%’s asses, plus getting FREE PHONES, FOOD STAMPS, FAUX DISABILITY CHECKS.....etc.

Part of your preparations for a Presidential debate should be to abstain from drugs and booze. Okay maybe just a quick hit, to calm your nerves before going out on stage, but that's it.

LSM excuse: the air was too thin at 1 mile of altitude, Zer0 was oxygen deprived. Mitt had 3 days to get acclimated to the Rockies.

“How decisively did Mitt Romney win Wednesday night’s debate? All you had to do was watch the most pro-Obama network to see it. “I personally do not know who won this debate,” MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow said as soon as the debate ended. She was obviously the only one who didn’t know.

When Maddow brought on her colleague Ed Schultz, he moaned that President Obama “created a problem for himself tonight on Social Security. He agreed with Mitt Romney.… I thought he was off his game.” Nor did the president’s performance send a thrill up the leg of Chris Matthews. “I don’t know what he was doing out there,” Matthews complained. “He had his head down. He was enduring the debate rather than fighting it.”

If ever there were a night when conservatives wanted to watch MSNBC, this was it — an all-you-can-eat buffet of schadenfreude, as one after another of the liberal network’s personalities tried to come to grips with what was perhaps the most one-sided presidential debate since JFK beat a shifty-looking Richard Nixon in 1960. “In terms of debate tactics, Romney was on the offense most of the night,” a glum Howard Fineman acknowledged, while a shell-shocked Chuck Todd admitted that the result “automatically elevates Romney as a credible alternative” and later added, in reference to the Obama camp’s post-debate mood: “They know they lost tonight.”

Everybody knew it.....................”
