Heck, my brother makes $3M a year and he dropped out in 10th grade.
Sounds like he learned what he needed to go in his own direction to learn what he wanted. The K thru 12 school model is a foolish wasteful failure. It forces students into a mold that is more likely to break them than build them.
These days, online learning opportunities abound and can be combined with trade schools and apprenticeships to produce real producing Americans.

When Romney said he would work with everyone in Congress, Democrats and Republicans, how I wish he had thrown in - “I wouldn’t be saying that if Congress won’t act then I will, and then proceed to govern by signing over 900 Executive Orders.”

When parents pay for the tuition Im sure we get more Liberal Arts majors. When students pay their own we Im sure we end up with more business majors.
It all depends on the student. Told my son that if he did well in school (K-12) we would pay for the first 4 years and after that he's on his own. He did very well, graduated from college with a double major (Finance and Spanish) with honors and is now paying his way thru grad school.

Also, Saturn and Hummer were not saved, Chrysler was sold off to an Italian company, and Ford seemed to weather the downturn alright.
In addition, why should GM be treated any different than the airline industry where American Airlines and others went through bankruptcy proceedings without a government bailout?
