Ah, no. Italians came to America so that those of us who are Scandnavian and Celt could marry them and produce beautiful, smart children. As my Irish grandmother said when I announced my engagement to my half Italian hubby, “It’s about time this family had some brown eyes!”
Thanks for posting this. As an first generation Italian-American who was born and raised in New York City, this hits a soft spot with me.
The Italian culture has always been close to my heart. I’m so grateful for that influence growing up. It’s what makes me smile knowingly when I read the late Nora Ephron’s quote: “Secret to life: Marry an Italian.”
