Mitt Romney: This Is Not What a Real Recovery Looks Like

Mitt Romney today released the following statement on the September unemployment report:

“This is not what a real recovery looks like. We created fewer jobs in September than in August, and fewer jobs in August than in July, and we’ve lost over 600,000 manufacturing jobs since President Obama took office. If not for all the people who have simply dropped out of the labor force, the real unemployment rate would be closer to 11%. The results of President Obama's failed policies are staggering – 23 million Americans struggling for work, nearly one in six living in poverty and 47 million people dependent on food stamps to feed themselves and their families. The choice in this election is clear. Under President Obama, we’ll get another four years like the last four years. If I’m elected, we will have a real recovery with pro-growth policies that will create 12 million new jobs and rising incomes for everyone.”

Good response. Part-time jobs are not a recovery.

But the banner headlines on the alphabet news sites say unemployment is tumbling! Breaking news! It’s morning in America again! I’m voting for Obama! He’s saving America!

Remember when the Democrats accused the Republicans of creating “Burger Flipper Jobs”? The GOP needs to turn the tables on them.

“Mitt hits it on the nail.”

He’s going to have to be hitting that nail with a sledge hammer and his PAC’s doing the same or this will undo his gains from the debate.

Better yet - let’s all pray that the false rigging of the unemployment numbers be exposed.........that a whistle-blower will surface......

Absolutely the response needed.

Seeing how Romney has the ability to present facts on his feet, he will explain exactly how crooked these numbers are.

Time to show the clips of Pelosi slamming Bush for 300k new jobs. 114k new jobs is pitiful.

The poseur may have taken this one step too far. Just a week ago his Benghazi attack meme collapsed under the weight of the evidence. The sudden drop to 7.8% after 40 months is going to confirm to many that this man has trouble with math and the truth. Ordinary folks looking at what they see in their daily lives will regard this with the same suspicion as marked-down fish at the supermarket.

Notice that he chose to not directly accuse obama of cooking the books. Maybe that’s smart. Let surrogates expose that. We do however need an indepedent investigation on how these numbers are being derived. Anyone can see this corruption.

I wonder how this “unemployment” rate of 7.8% is really going o be received the last month before the election. Many economists and analysts are calling it bogus and politically massaged just before an election. Mitt’’s statement above hits it on the head what is happening. People around the county KNOW what the real ecomony is like since they are living it.

I think that this magical number is going to be received with a lot of skeptism and will not help the chair.

It would be nice to see Romney or/and Ryan mention the real unemployment rate if the Obama Dept Of Labor had included those who were dropped from the labor force...a good line would be,

“So Obama doesn’t care about the 874,000 people who dropped out of the labor force? - does Obama think welfare is good enough for them?”

The real question should be, if the Labor Department is lying for the regime now...HOW LONG have they been juicing the numbers?

My guess, we have been in double digit unemployment for years.

I applaud Mitt and his campaign for being agile and responding quickly to many of Obummers ‘inaccuracies’.

That said, there is something that has really bugged me for quite some time. I really wish that the pundits on TV, especially Republican Reps and Senators would quite using “we” when it actually isn’t “we”, it’s the Dims. They should change “we” to the Democrats did......
By using we IMHO it gives the impression that the Pubs agreed to and/or had a part in the issue, which most/many of the times they did not.

So, instead of Mitt saying “we created X jobs”, he should say something to the effect of: the Labor Dept/Admin claimed (claimed or a similuar word is probably appropriate as the #s are usually adjusted down the following month)that X jobs were created. Just my $.02 FWIW

Romney can pivot the entire election -- promise to use U6 14.7% as official Govt UI rate.

EXCELLENT RESPONSE.

Only thing missing is pointing out that U6 DID NOT MOVE AT ALL.

That’s highly highly suspicious and shows number fudging at play.
