I will furious very fast if this does not make into the foreign policy debate.
Can anyone explain why we should think that the FBI can conduct a credible investigation when the crime scene has been unsecured for 3 weeks?
Wow. When the people whom are paid to obfuscate begin telling the truth then we are surely inside a failed Presidency.
Both Hilary and Obozo need to make this go away......
Seriously is there even a question that an Ambassador in North Africa should have more protection than this guy had?
Whats to investigate? They know what happened. Any evidence for a trial would be useless at this point.
All they need to do is secure or destroy whatever classified materials remain and leave.
The fact that the "crime scene" has been unsecured for three weeks would indicate that the "findings" of the "investigation" are being written without any attention to the "evidence".
In real life, if they really cared, there would have been a company of Marines on the scene in hours.
If they really cared, there would have been Marines there ahead of time, no confidential docs in that location in the first place, and the ambassador would have been in a facility on the anniversary of 9/11.
I'm thinking that the documents about our local intelligence activities in Libya was what the attackers really wanted when they planned the operation, and the ambassador was just a bonus.
1. I think they already know who ordered the attack on the embassy. There is nothing to investigate. In any case, this isn’t a crime scene, its war. You don’t “investigate” a war, you either wage it or fail to wage it.
2. There is no philosophical or practical bright-line separating Al Qaeda from Muslim Brotherhood. There never has been. Zawahiri was Muslim Brotherhood. The problem we have is that, if we recognize that MB is AQ, we have to admit that our government is riddled with them and we have effectively switched sides in the “war on terror”. They won.
3. There won’t be any justice for Stevens because his bosses are in bed with the people who killed him. Heck, he was probably in bed with them too up until they decided to kill him. Still, since they can’t go after Morsi, they will probably bomb some tents full of some low-life trigger-pullers that no one will miss.
I am sure they are right but unfortunately, they completely undermined their credibility in the 2004 election, where every week there was a leak from the C-Y-A about how horrible Iraq, along with a lot of ass-covering over how bad their intelligence was before the war. Live by politics, die by politics.
Note to self: don’t use Spooks in a title of an article mentioning zero.
