TheDC Opinion: Big Bird can make it rain on his own.

Big Bird is a billionaire. A Warren Buffett, Eric Schmidt, Steve Jobs billionaire, which is pretty impressive considering that he is not a real person but rather a giant, yellow bird (which is a kind of terrifying concept if you actually think about it for a second.)

Advocates for continued federal funding of the Public Broadcasting Service got their undies in a twist Wednesday night when GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney said that he would cut funding to the beloved TV station to reduce the national deficit.

“I like PBS. I love Big Bird … But I’m not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for it,” Romney said during the debate. So even as much as Romney “loves” the feathered “6-year-old,” he knows that sometimes you just have to take it out back and shoot it Old Yeller style.

Feds should not bankroll Big Bird—he can survive in the Private Sector very well—so too with PBS—maybe they can be a bit more ballanced too.

I think most people miss what Romney did subliminally on those watching the debate. He made it clear that the host, Lehrer would be against him and for Obama.

Romney never said to get rid of PBS(Public Broadcasting). But the public and Big Bird who has made millions from the network should fund their own ideaology.

But if I had a dollar for every time I heard “get rid of Big Bird” I’d be rich too. No one said anything about “getting rid of Big Bird” but the chant goes on.

As a matter of fact, Big Bird is looking like an upper 1% dude. I’d love to see a cartoon with Obama and the IRS chasing Big Bird, Barney, and Dora and some cute caption on 1%. Then conservatives could whine that the Democrats are taxing Big Bird out of a job.
