David Cameron has been given a clear demand from the Conservative Partys grass roots to drop his controversial plans to legalize same-sex marriage in an eve-of-conference poll.
The survey of Tory constituency chairmen, seen by The Sunday Telegraph, finds that 71 percent think the proposalwhich the Prime Minister has pledged will be law by 2015should be abandoned.
Nearly half the chairmen claim their local parties have lost members as a result of the plans, while only three percent say they have gained membership.

They could run a poll asking, “Should we nuke ourselves” and about the same number of people would be for that as are for gay marriage.
It’s a utter and total loser political issue and only losers use it in a campaign.
That “conservative” over there would make some of our Democrats look downright victorian.
(Can we get an international trademark on “Conservative” so that other people - like this guy - can’t use it?)
