Thanks worker.

You are both right I’m afraid. Those on the left wish to “rule us all” as the saying goes. They’ve done a great job making approx. 35% (I won’t go as high as 47!) of the people very easy to rule.

I really think Republicans/Tea Partiers/Conservatives need to make reaching out to the black community a big priority. They’ve been completely ill served by the Left/Dems for 3 generations now. Their families have been destroyed, their children are illiterate, they are plagued with black-on-black crime (no one cares about black murder victims unless they are among the very small percent who get killed by white people) and of all the groups in the US, I think they’d be ready for a change and some real hope.

I’m not saying this would be easy, for a long while it would probably prove a thankless task. But I think Americans in general will give you a fair hearing and I think in the long run it would prove fruitful.

As one guy said at a tea party meeting I went to, you don’t need to get all, or even most, or even a lot of black people to vote for you, if you could just get another 10% you’d be in great shape. (That’s my number, I don’t remember exactly what he said.)

It’s essential to enlist blacks in our cause, we’ll never get the public schools straightened out without them, for just one example.

jocon,

I competely understand your sentiments with this. My concern is that “reaching out” to any particular minority reinforces a stereotype about conservatism, that somehow it’s a “white” person’s game. I prefer to take the path that Conservatives state who and what they are, proudly and forthrightly, without deference to ANY race, ethnicity or religious class. Rather, it is all about Americanism — and that is something that is for everyone. It should never be divvied up into categories of people.

Maybe that’s Pollyanna-ish of me, I don’t know, but that’s what I believe. I think the entire Tea Party movement is based on that, and should continue to reflect that. We/It should never surrender to the PC premise that somehow, minorities need to have special accommodations than other “regular” Americans.
