Even If Obama Did Cook The Jobs Numbers, They Still Stink

What's more, the drop in the official unemployment rate, if those numbers are to be believed, was driven largely by a big upturn in part-time jobs. Workers who can't find full-time work, or forced to take huge pay cuts to land work, are not signs of forward momentum.

And that's why the BLS' broader, but little noticed, measure of the unemployed — which includes discouraged workers and those working part time because they can't find full-time jobs — remained unchanged in September at a gut-wrenching 14.7%.

Look at it this way: If Obama did cook the numbers, this is the best he could do?

Simple Response for Governor Romney -

Mr. President, while many economists claim the new unemployment number is “implausible” but giving you the benefit of the doubt, it still took you 4 years to move the unemployment rate 1/10 of point lower than when you took office. The American people can’t wait 4 more years for your blind vision of job growth.

it still took you 4 years and over 800 billion in borrowed money that we still have to pay back to move the unemployment rate 1/10 of point lower than when you took office

I made a slight addition.

I believe that Obama cooked the numbers. I also think it doesn't matter. People don't think the economy is now great, just because the jobless rate dropped below some symbolic value. They think it's bad because their friends and neighbors can't find jobs. Some number, even when heralded by the press as the second coming, is not important.

What Obama needs is a 400 year presidency.

Fudged numbers or not, 7.8% is nothing to be proud of. I remember when the ‘Rats were complaining about George Bush's 4.5%. Obama and the ‘Rats and the media are now crowing about 7.8%, over three points higher than Bush, and that is somehow good? I guess that is the “new normal”, that and $5/gal gasoline.

There’s just no way to spin 0’s horrid results. The country would be better off if 0 merely had zero results. Things have gotten markedly worse since he came in. Fire his ass.

I think Florida is still up at 8.8% unemployment.

John Williams (shadowstats.com) said today in an interview with Jim Puplava, that the same methodology as used in previous decades but also using official figures yields an unemployment rate oft 22%.

He did a good job of explaining how the figures are massaged, too.
