Rumors Swirl: How Bad Will The Obama Foreign Donor Scandal Be?
Townhall.com ^ | October 7, 2012 | Katie Pavlich

Since last week, the news sphere has been buzzing about the possibility of an Obama campaign foreign donor scandal being the big October surprise of 2012. Since the Washington Examiner first reported the story last week, many are asking how the Obama campaign will handle foreign donation allegations expected to go public Monday in a major magazine and national website story. The Obama campaign has already tried to block the story from publication and although the details of the scandal are still under wraps, we do know taxes and unsecured credit card transactions are about to cause a major headache for the Obama campaign.

Just yesterday, we received news the Obama campaign raised a whopping $181 million in September alone, pulling the question of foreign donations even closer to the surface and putting Obama closer than ever to reaching a $1 billion fundraising number.

U.S. President Barack Obama's campaign and the Democratic Party have raised $181 million in September for his re-election effort - their highest monthly total yet of the 2012 presidential race.

The president's campaign said Saturday that the money represents donations from more than 1.8 million people.

Stay tuned.....the story could come as early as Sunday night, rather than Monday morning as originally planned.

will Romney bring it up in a debate? &/or, will it be campaign ad fodder for Romney?

Sounds just like the millions of $25 prepaid gift debit card contributions bought by Soros and the Saudis in 2008.

Absolutely! Plain and simple money laundering. Example: stimulus funds to public and private unions right back to Obama campaign bucks.

Whether or not it gets covered will depend on how the press sees the election going. Something may not really pop on this till after the next debate because if he stumbles again as badly as he did last week, all bets are off simply because while the press wants him to win, they do not want to be seen entirely on the side of the guy who lost...they lose all credibility if that happens.

Along the way recently, there have been some cracks in the dam. Unless ocommie can plug them, and he will get a full press treatment by the next moderator to do so, he will be toast. Not only will he lose, but if he loses 50% of his media support, he will lose as badly as did mclame. Romney better be on his A+ skill next one because if he wins, the election will be his to lose. He would have to have an epic fail in the third one to lose if he wins the next debate on usually the home court, foreign policy, of a sitting president.

Dems believe voter fraud is a right guaranteed to them in The Constitution, why would illegal campaign contributions be any different? Holder will defend the privacy of these donations until his dying day.

Now you know why Obama has been e-mailing everyone in the country for donations as tiny as $3.

Your donor information is more valuable than your paltry donation.

All that foreign aid coming back via donations. What a racket. BTW, what happens to that unspent campaign cash. How long can he hang on to it when he loses.

Make the DNC turn it over to apply to the National Debt and then prosecute Obama’s campaign team for illegal fund raising methods!

There was a “chance for a dinner with Paul Ryan, donate $3” e-mail also. What about that?

so 709,520 people donated $250 each to Zero in September.

Actually, it's even more people than that. They reported 1.8 million donors.

35k people gave an average of $2,600, while just over 1.7 million people gave an average of $53. Half the campaign's haul came from people giving around the maximum amount and half from people who don't have to be disclosed.

Contributions under $200 don't have to be disclosed, but the campaign still has to keep track of the donor's name, in case subsequent donations push their contribution over the reporting threshold.

For contributions under $50, however, the campaign doesn't even have to keep track of the donor's name. It is effectively considered a "petty cash" donation. A person could theoretically make 10 $49 donations and never be reported, even though their total contributions are above the FEC's reporting threshold.

With an average donation of $53 from small donors, Obama has A LOT of donors who will never be disclosed and whose names aren't even known to the campaign.

Most of that info from here: Windfall: Obama Raises $181 Million, Only Around 2% of Donations Reportable.

But, one thing to keep in mind: The Obama campaign has turned off name and address verification. You can put any name or address you want on the online form. As long as it is a valid credit card number, it will go through.

This opens the door for several forms of election fraud:

I suspect that some of these issues are what will be hitting the news in the next 24 hours. The question is whether the Kneepad Media will cover it. If not, Ryan and Romney should figure out a way to insert it into the debate. That will get it past the Kneepad Media's filter.

Thank you for a more complete explanation. I was simply doing back of the napkin minimum numbers.

How bad will the Obama Foreign Donor Scandal Be?-—Depends how much of the truth comes out. If just part of it would come out it would be monstrous and would explain Obama’s bow to the Saudi Arabian king (the protector of Mecca and Medina).
