Robert Gibbs: Mitt Romney Has 'Taken the Battle Straight to Sesame Street' By George Stephanopoulos | ABC OTUS News – 58 mins ago

Senior Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs slammed Mitt Romney's "theatrical" presidential debate performance this morning on "This Week" for what he said was the GOP presidential nominee's lack of detail, calling his performance "dishonest" and saying the only thing Romney would cut from the federal budget is "Big Bird."

"The underpinnings and foundation of that performance were fundamentally dishonest," said Gibbs, an Obama campaign senior adviser. "Look, the only thing he outlined that he would cut in the budget is Big Bird. He's taken the battle straight to Sesame Street and let Wall Street run hog wild."

I spoke to Romney campaign senior adviser Ed Gillespie after my interview with Gibbs and he accused the Obama campaign of acting like a child that just lost a checker game. He also defended Romney for citing that he would cut PBS funding during the debate.

"The Obama campaign, they remind me a little bit of a 7-year-old losing a checker game, and then instead of being frustrated at the outcome, they sweep the board off the table," Gillespie said. "Big Bird, I can tell you, as the father of three children, grown now, but any father who has gone to a toy store knows that Big Bird is a pretty commercially successful entity. "

Obama’s crew keeps referring to Mitt Romney as “dishonest”; it’s laughable since Obama has fibbed, and fibbed, and fibbed, and yakked, and yakked, and yakked; I guess hoping we’d forget what he told last if he just kept telepromptering.

8 million and some change last year. Would have been higher except they spent 5 million on fund raising...

Marx/Stalin “accuse others of what you are doing yourself”

Also taught by Alinsky.

(Please post any time you see O accusing Romney of lying.)

The Democrats love PBS because it is a taxpayer-funded propaganda machine for them. PBS should have been defunded decades ago.

Big Bird brings in $75-85 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR.

Tell me again why we are borrowing from China to subsidize it?

Looks like the Muppets made more money on the movie curcuilt that they ever did on PBS.

Check this out folks.

Robert Gibbs ? how do you explain this then ?

The Muppet Movie - $65,200,000
The Great Muppet Caper - $31,206,251
The Muppets Take Manhattan - $25,534,703
The Muppet Christmas Carol - $27,281,507
Muppet Treasure Island - $34,327,391
Muppets from Space - $16,625,807

$ 196 Million ... not a bad take in profit for the Muppets Movies....
And that's not counting all the DVD sales.

One can say that the Muppets have raked in $ 1 Billion in sales from the movies, DVDs, toys, cloths, marketing.

In fairness, Mitt put this issue on the table himself this time.

But it was a good line and good politics this time around I think.

Sesame Street just doesn’t have the name recognition or influence it had 20-30 years ago. It has been completely replaced by the new and/or recent characters on the cable channels like Dora, Calliou, Wiggles, Hannah Montana, etc.

Children and mothers just don’t follow Big Bird anymore now that he has to compete in the marketplace.

Wonder what kind of interest we pay to China on Big Bird’s subsidy. Anyone knows that you have to add the interest to the cost to know what you’re actually paying.

Add the interest to the subsidy, any subsidy, and you get the real cost of these programs.

a 20 year study released a few years ago proved there was no advantage to kids who watched the PBS show..by 3 rd grade the kids are all equal..it may cause damage since a recent study says even back ground noise from tv can damage cognitive skills.

They are getting away with such dishonesty here.

Obama wants the rich to pay their “fair share” (meaning enough of their money to stop them from expanding and hiring and maybe even sapping their will a la Atlas Shrugged) AND NOW THEY ARE SAYING THE MIDDLE CLASS SHOULD BE GIVING MONEY TO BIG BIRD. Sesame Street makes billions from movie and merchandising. To use Sesame Street as something we can’t cut from funding is preposterous. They don’t need the welfare they get.

the only thing Romney would cut from the federal budget is "Big Bird."

And the clown with the teleprompter.
