Never said they had affinity for Hillary, and I assure you the stage was being set for Hillary to run against Romney in 2016.
The stage was being set when? Certainly not after Obama was elected. Hillary's last chance was 2008. That was her high water mark, and everyone except paranoid Freepers knows it.
The Dems need to begin grooming someone new for 2016, right now. What bench they do have, is inexperienced, past their prime, underdeveloped, unknown, little known, over-the-hill, or failures of one kind or another.
