Liberals fret: Is Obama bored? Does he want a second term? Maybe not.
Wash Examiner ^ | 10.07.12 | Byron York

There’s no doubt President Obama’s liberal supporters are worried by his lackluster performance in the Denver debate. “Everyone is in shock,” one show-business liberal told the Hollywood reporter. “No one can understand what happened.” The Obama faithful are offering the White House advice, talking points, pep talks — anything to improve the president’s performance when he next faces Mitt Romney at Hofstra University on October 16.

Of course he’s bored. He was the Chosen One. He got the Nobel Prize before they unpacked the boxes in the West Wing. It’s been all downhill since then. Why bother?

He want a second term, but he wants people to give it to him. Romney wants to earn it.

If Romney wins, the curtain will be lifted off of how bad things really are and then it’s Romney’s fault. If obama wins, we get 4 more years of the media fauning over this guy.

Remember all those so-sophisticated libs who told us that he’s way too smart for this job? That he’s so far ahead of the rest of us in intelligence that he’s just bored by how slow the system is to react to his genius? This stupidity is just another iteration of that approach.

I will grant them this much, however - it is clear that *he* thinks he’s so much better than the peons he has to rule over. Unfortunately there are no openings among the Greek gods at the moment, so the poor lad has to settle for the task of POTUS, despite the fact that (in his mind) it’s so much below him.

I think Obama can actually feel the futility of converting America to a socialist nation. Even after purging his past, replacing nearly every high level position with someone who is either Moslem or a communist he is still trying to row upstream with half a paddle, he just keeps on making left hand circles.

Give it up now, walk away now to fight again another day? or push on through like a high speed caravan hitting a dense patch of fog on a turnpike?

When the MSM writes this, it's over! I've said it before...It would not surprise me in the least bit Obama was tanking this election.

Obama's destruction has been done!

I said awhile back that Obama doesn’t want another term - he wants money. He bought a big house in Hawaii and probably doesn’t give a hoot if he’s re-elected - he barely worked the last 4 years. He travels with a teleprompter for gods sake - how many people who work for a living travel with a teleprompter? He does want donors money - you don’t buy a $35M house on a community organizers salary.

I’m guessing all those billions to buddies who were campaign donors were kicked back, is some part, to Obama....

Really - what did we expect ?

lol....”Bored”.

That implies a degree of intelligence he doesn’t possess.

It’s not boredom: what we’re seeing is fear of reality.

I’m sure these bill boards are probably all over the country, but I saw my first one the other day and almost drove off the road. It is a big pic of the Great One, mopping his brow and looking beat, and it says something about Poor Obama, if he gets reelected he’ll inherit such a mess!

Palin may be our nominee in 2016.

You guys who think you can "primary" a sitting president really crack me up.

Interesting speculation here in this piece. I was at a senior corporate management meeting for my company last month, and we had a general discussion about the election and its implications for our industry. My input was this: "Personally, I'm getting the impression that Mitt Romney is running for a job that Barack Obama doesn't even want anymore."

This was based largely on Obama's dull performance in his convention acceptance speech. His debate performance last week only reinforces this view of mine.

I can imagine what the last few months have been like in the White House.

Obama: "I don't want to do this anymore. Just let me go and play golf and run my fantasy football teams until January."

DNC Representative: "If you start acting that way in public, you're going to bring dozens of Democratic members of Congress down with you. You have to play the game until November, or else Democratic voters all over the place will stay home on Election Day. Pay no mind to the sacking of the U.S. consulate in Libya and the murder of the U.S. ambassador over there, dude ... you've got to get out to Las Vegas to raise money for this charade -- oops, I mean -- for the cause."

According to current thinking, reelection is the test of presidential adequacy and greatness. If you can't get reelected you're a failure. If you can get reelected -- and even get a successor of your own party elected afterwards -- you just might be a great president.

Obama didn't wholly accept that. His statement that he'd "rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president" reflects his disagreement. But official Washington and academia and public memory have come to associate success with reelection, so that's what Obama's trying for.

What Obama really wants at some deeper level is harder to say. Maybe he senses that the presidency hasn't really worked out for him, and some part of Obama doesn't want it. Maybe he feels in some semi-conscious way that he can't form a narrative of success out of his record. But that's not something he'd come out and say or even admit to himself.

Have I been wearing foil for too long now, or does ANYONE ELSE think that whole “performance” by Barry was totally planned?

It was far too easy...something doesn’t set well with me.

He didn’t buy the house. Others are arranging the fundraising according to the article.

See my post #39.
