that is why when a USSC candiate who is asked “will you respect stare decisis?” is a 100% BS question by the persons asking and answering. The USSC ROUTINELY ignores or deliberatly overturns past rulings.
Of course they do. And they should when past rulings are in error.
But they should not inject their own personal preferences into the process. I realize that it is very difficult to isolate such influences, but the notion that they will do so is precisely why they are given such enormous power and prestige.
