Since Social Security is adjusted annually for inflation, I have long suspected that they keep redefining inflation as a way to slow the payouts of the treasury.

Since Social Security is adjusted annually for inflation, I have long suspected that they keep redefining inflation as a way to slow the payouts of the treasury. The price index used to calculate the Social Security COl "adjustment" does not include food or energy price increases. Now what could possibly go wrong with that?
