Nine people who put up bail for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, including two members of the British aristocracy and a Nobel Prize winner, were ordered to pay £93 000 on Monday after Assange took refuge in Ecuador's embassy.

The guarantors - who include Nobel prize-winning biologist John Sulston - are liable for part of the £140 000 pound bail fee they pledged, Westminster Magistrate's Court ruled.

They were given until 6 November to pay up.

Well, duh.

Clearly a flight risk, and a narcissistic drama queen from the word go. Did they think he would care about them losing their bail money?

Vaughan Smith - one of the nine, who housed Assange for 13 months after his arrest - argued for the entire group in court last week. He had said it should pay no money at all because the case had dragged on for much longer than expected and Assange had not warned the group's members before entering the embassy.

I would expect no less.

I like the second argument about not being warned the most.

This is why you should never put your money where your mouth is, especially if you’re a big-mouthed liberal blowhard.

Britain should close their embassy in Ecuador, surround the Ecuadorian embassy in London, order it closed and all its staff to leave Britain within 48 hours. And then, the police just wait.

In that kind of scenario they either nab that little sissy punk or he hangs himself.Either way,he loses.

Good question although it is nice to see that he took his supporters for a big ride on the moohla.

If he comes back or they catch him is the bail money still forfeit?

What isn’t clear to me, regardless of how anyone thinks of what this guy did, he didn’t give a damn about publishing or making available top secret diplomatic cables.

So what does he do? Hides or seeks diplomatic asylum, expecting the very system he despises to protect him! What an ass.
