The rebels will become much worse once they have Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction and Syria's gas weapons.

At least under Assad, Christians have a chance to live in peace. Under the Jihadis, they’re doomed, just like Christians in Egypt.

We have no business choosing sides in Syria, Egypt, Libya, etc. There is no good side. Let them kill each other. Romney worries me, here.

How does who’s in charge in Syria meet the America’s Vital Interests test?

Much like with the Libyan overthrow - We really don't know who the "rebels" are... Of course, lots of congress-critters want to arm them anyway. Sort of a "the enemy of my enemy is going to stab me in the back with the weapons we gave him." It certainly went well when we funneled weapons to the rebels in Afghanistan against the Soviets, who then morphed into Al-Queda.

Or Iraq, in the Iran/Iraq war, or even in today's Afghanistan, where they're murdering our troops as we train and supply them... Or any number of misadventures where we arm erstwhile "allies" who simply can't wait to stab us in the back with those very same weapons. Just once, can't we simply allow both sides who hate us anyway to go on merrily slaughtering each other while we watch safely from the sidelines?

The Syrian “rebels” are even WORSE than Assad!!!!

The “rebels” are Al Qaeda and the muslim Brotherhood in Syria. Their goal is to take power and link up with the regime in Egypt and the rest of the emerging Caliphate.

They will also commit genocide and ethnic cleansing against Christians, Alawites, and other minorities. That especially includes our Antiochian Orthodox Brothers and Sisters—from the SAME Antiochian Orthodox Church that may be down the street from you, and takes in lots of American converts!!!! The slaughter has already started in “rebel”-held territory!

If the rebels take power in Syria, Israel (together with Lebanon) will be surrounded by the territories of the Caliphate. You all know what the next step will be.

The rebels in Syria are the same as the rebels in Lybya are the same as the rebels in Egypt. They are al-Qaeda. Of course they are worse than Assad.

A question itself is wrong to the core.
Why Assad is a bad guy? How could a good guy look like there? Are you going to seek gentlemen in a sewers or something?
Assad types are effective and quite friendly leaders in that part of the world. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Assad rattling sabre or flying green flag condemining great satan and “joose” declaring jihad, urging beheading of something.
As for Assad’s flaws if liberals really think humanism and liberalism work in Middle East they are even dumber than they look.
