Posted on 10/09/2012 11:37:17 AM PDT by Zakeet
By drafting House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan as his running mate, Mitt Romney thought he was adding a franchise player to the GOP ticket.
The Wisconsin congressman came across as a serious-minded wonk with washboard abs. Over the previous two years, he showed an ability to both charm the beltway chattering class and excite the Joe Six-Packs. His warnings about the all-consuming expense of entitlements like Medicare made him an intellectual adversary of President Obama.
But two months into running for vice president, hes lost his golden boy sheen. Thursdays debate showdown against Vice President Joe Biden may give Ryan an opportunity to regain that luster. Just as Romney breathed life back into the campaign with a stunning takedown of Obama last week, Ryan needs to demonstrate that hes a compassionate cost-cutter whose reforms will save Medicare and Medicaid and not destroy them.
"If Ryan is as solid as Romney was, the meme about [the] campaign shrinking his stature will completely cease," tweeted Austan Goolsbee, an Obama economics adviser who returned to the University of Chicago after serving in the administration.
So what went wrong?

My name is Zero ... and I approve of this obviously unbiased ... mainstream media ... hit piece ... on the nerd!
“But two months into running for vice president, hes lost his golden boy sheen.”
Josh, you ignorant, putrid, little twinkie slut.
I Ryan were a Democrat, the media would be 24/7 about what a gorgeous stud he is. They would be hysterical.
I didn’t know that Ryan had lost his mojo.
Cough, choke, puke booooooaaaaakkkkk!!
This article makes me sick.
Just four words.........Joe Biden
Josh Boak seems to be deluded. He probably doesn’t know what a “mojo” is.
Stopped reading right there.
My cat's litterbox leavings today were the intellectual adversary of the putzident!
Apparently this presstitute is blind, deaf and dumb. Ryan is drawing huge crowds everywhere. And his biggest concern about the debates will be not kicking this senile old clown around too vigorously.
He’s totally clueless. Probably says that to his boyfriend/companion/partner: “Gimme mo’ Joe”.
It's simple. He joined the wrong team.
Democrats are portrayed as brilliant, even Joe Biden, and Republicans are portrayed as stupid. The DNCp has spoken. It must be so!
Yes, this is a meme they’ve been pushing against Paul Ryan for weeks. That Politico supposed-satirical article about “stench” was sickening. It’s a divide-and-conquer strategy for Romney-Ryan that has failed miserably. Mitt treats Paul like one of his grown-up sons. You can see in the body language that those two really like eachother.
Paul Ryan will shine in his debate. No question in my mind about this.
Have we heard who is prepping Joe?
Ryan could show up to the debate drunk as a skunk and high on a triple dose of Nyquil and still kick the crap outta slow joe in a debate.
Excuse me, Josh Boak, but you homosexual socialists know nothing about MOJO.... and you never will.
No one wants to see poor ole Joe B. cry on national tv.
“...tweeted Austan Goolsbee, an Obama economics adviser who returned to the University of Chicago after serving in the administration.”
Well, if ever there was a name destined for academia, it’s ‘Austan Goolsbee’.
“unable to explain how Romneys $5 trillion budget cut proposal wont add to the deficit.”
I assume that’s a typo?
I’m sure two weeks ago this idiot was writing how Romney’s campaign was dead in the water...
Oh, how can you say the article is biased when they give you quotes like this about the current frontrunner:
“I hate to say this, but if Ryan wants to run for national office again, hell probably have to wash the stench of Romney off of him,” Craig Robinson, a former political director of the Republican Party of Iowa, told The New York Times last month.”
