'Amir Khan and his boxer brother Haroon have fought off an armed gang who tried to steal his £100,000 Range Rover.
The pair of pugilists had returned to the car after a night out in Birmingham when six men ambushed them.
The Sun reports that the gang used another 4x4 to block the Khans' path, while another brandished a cosh.
The brothers fought them off and escaped with just cuts and bruises, although the Range Rover's back window was smashed.
An eyewitness told The Sun: "These guys tried to jump Amir and his brother but they picked on the wrong blokes.
"They parked their car in front of the Range Rover. At least one had a cosh. One slapped Amir and clipped him on the lip but Amir pulled back and knocked him out cold.
"Then five of them went for Amir and Haroon but they stood their ground and these guys got dropped one by one."'

I love it when a story has a happy ending.
There’s the famous if questionable story of Jack Dempsey at the age of 70 arriving in Manhattan for a black tie dinner by cab. As he stepped out of the cab he pulled out his wallet to pay the cabby. At that point a mugger grabbed his shoulder and demanded the wallet
Supposedly Dempsey asked the cabby to wait a moment and then decked the mugger, paid the cabby and went in to the dinner.
I cannot verify the story.
Re: Jack Dempsey - my paternal grandfather got off the boat the day after Dempsey fought Luis Firpo in 1923, and the papers had the fight headlined. Fast forward about 50 years, and Grandpa was walking around the Sutton Place section in New York. He sat down on a park bench and started talking to his fellow oldster...who, as you might imagine, was Jack Dempsey. Grandpa reported that Dempsey had HUGE hands - so I can very well believe that he decked the mugger at age 70 - you just have to get in the first shot, and NO ONE expects that from “an old man.”
My favorite story along those lines is about a famous old unnamed knife fighting expect [I think I know the name of the expert, but I’m not going to speculate in public] that was the “victim” of an attempted mugging.
He was quite old at the time 60s or 70’s, but he whipped out a knife, grabbed the mugger by the belt and pulled his belly into the point of the knife and told the mugger, “I’m gonna gut you like a hog.”
:-)
That ended that attempted mugging.
There was a case where Jake Lamotta’s daughter decked a mugger after being slashed with a knife in London. I guess genes do count.
A friend of my father and my brother’s boxing coach in college, who had been a professional welterweight, as an elderly man was given a hard time by a cab driver who was several feet taller and years younger. He left the cabbie unconscious with his feet sticking up out of a snow bank. “Your legs go with age,” he said, “ but you never lose your punch” as they went into the Willard Hotel for a drink.
I was a martial arts instructor for 15 years until my right knee gave up. I hold a 3rd degree black belt. I have three daughters, the shortest of whom is 5'9". I made sure they all learned something. It might be a mistake to mess with any of them.
>>100K UKP?? Is that the 007 model?
Probably just a well-appointed and fully UK-taxed model.
“According to a website I read a cosh is a weighted object similar to a blackjack.”
I personally prefer a weighted object similar to a Colt .45.
