RUSH: Ken, Cleveland, Ohio, you're next on the EIB Network. Hello, sir.
CALLER: Hey, greetings, Professor Limbaugh. I believe the number one item on the Romney agenda should be to make this country energy independent from the rest of the world. Because when the Middle East explodes, which is inevitable, we could see ten-dollar-a-gallon gasoline, and that's just gonna kill us. We can see what's happening in California. Two of the refineries went down, and their gasoline cost is over $4.60 a gallon. Now, that's gonna kill us. We need to pay not what they pay in Europe for gasoline, we need to pay what they're paying in Saudi Arabia or Dubai. The greatest stimulus for this country would be a dollar a gallon gasoline, and that's what we need to strive for.
RUSH: Well, we have the ability. I think we're sitting on energy independence in this country, now that fracking and other techniques for getting shale oil is becoming economical. It's simpler than it used to be. We are sitting on energy independence. We've got energy independence 20, 30 miles off the California coast. We have energy independence in the Gulf of Mexico. We have a president who will not allow any of it to be tapped. We have a president who is very content, by the way, and an energy secretary, Steven Chu, who want the price of gasoline to get up and go higher.
Steven Chu, don't forget, until he got called on the carpet, actually said that he wouldn't have a problem with ten-dollar-a-gallon gasoline. The reason that they don't, Ken, is they're big believers in this green energy hoax. Green energy doesn't exist, and what semblance of it there is out there is so expensive that in a free market nobody would turn to it. But if you get fossil fuel prices up to ten bucks a gallon, eight bucks, whatever, then green becomes more attractive and with government subsidies, they could get the price of green energy lower than gasoline if gasoline prices skyrocket. My point, if there's tumult in the Middle East that interrupts oil supplies to this country, in truth, if Obama's president when that happens, he might say one thing, but privately it's exactly what he wants.
Mr. Snerdley, I'm not making this up. It was Obama three years ago, maybe four now during the campaign, four-dollar-a-gallon gasoline was fine with him. The only thing he was unhappy about was how rapidly the price increased to get there. And Steven Chu, the energy secretary, said, (paraphrasing) "I don't care how high it gets. We want people riding bicycles and taking mass transit." Folks, these are leftists, they're liberals, I mean, it's who they are. The idea that Obama talks about energy independence, who was it that KO'd the Keystone pipeline? Who is it that's got a drilling moratorium still in place? Who is it that defied a federal judge who said the moratorium is illegal? It was that cowboy-hat-wearing energy guy, Ken Salazar, interior secretary. These guys are getting exactly what they want. This is who they are. They are gonna bring this country down. This country doesn't deserve superpower status.

This hits poor and middle class hard. They don’t care.
I’ve run into single people that are telling me they now have to decide on who to date based on where in the city/county/region they’re living in because a drive across town 2-3 times a week is an additional $200-300 a month decision.
We exchanged the usual small pleasantries and he explained to me he won a big contract 60 miles north of us but the gas prices were gonna eat him alive......I told him ..I hear ya!...its hurting me and I'm working local....and then I added...I liked it better when Bush was in cahoots with big oil and gas was $1.83.......The look on his face was priceless!!!!...I really think he got it!...lol
..probably won’t be dating many libs or enviros after filling up that tank..
The obvious script for a television ad:
“Since President Obama entered office the price of gasoline has doubled.” Show picture of $1.87 on a gas pump with a caption of 2009 and another of a gas pump with $4.00 labeled today.
“The President’s Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu, has openly called for raising gas prices to European levels of $10.00 per gallon.” Show video clip of Chu making the statement.
“The President himself has stated publicly energy prices musts rise in America.” Show video clip of Obama making the statement.
Then move to video clip of Romney saying, “I believe energy prices are too high today and I’ll take the steps as President to decrease America’s reliance on high price foreign oil. The high priced energy policies of President Obama and Steven Chu are hurting middle class Americans. It is long past time for Mr. Obama to come clean and tell us how high the price of gasoline must go for him to be satisfied.”
try being a home health nurse who has to drive over 100 miles a day in the course of my job, the price of gas is breaking my budget big time
I remember when we had $4/gallon gas in 08 and the media was on a non-stop b!tch session.
Now it’s not even discussed....
Sort of like “homeless problem” and “McJobs” and “Recovery for Wall $treet but not Main Street”
“This hits poor and middle class hard. They dont care”
Yes they do. Here’s a nice government-owned city bus with a union worker driving it for them! And a $0.50 cent fare, also, subsidized by the more fortunate motorists in cars.

Actually, the Dems don’t want high gas prices — late in an election year. This is by Moonbat Brown used amazing “emergency” powers to waive some rules to allow more “unapproved” blends to be brought in. You can bet that if this was a Republican incumbent, the EPA would be all over this like stink on s***. So far - crickets.

I will send a dozen stickers to anyone who FReepmails me their address.
I will send the Excel file to anyone who FReepmails me their email address, PROVIDED they promise to only use removable stock.
Pretty outrageous, I spend like $500 per month on gasoline. This doesn’t even include any out of town drives either !
$10 gasoline simply enables oil producers to pump less and make more.
That enriches the sheiks of the world. Obama didn’t bow to the King of Saudi for nothing.
McJobs were replaced by being “Funemployed”.
This is not a news flash. Democrats have been wanting high gas prices for years, and at times have been very straightforward about it. Just like today, when they say they want to “destroy coal”. They mean it. West Virginians must be out of their minds to vote for any Democrat. “I’m voting for them because they promise to impoverish me and ruin my family.”
Years ago, various Democrats said they thought that $5/gal gas would be great. Steven Chu the current Secretary of energy, said in 2008, “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.”
Jimmy Carter created the “windfall profits tax” to drive up the price of gasoline.
Bill Clinton wanted a 26 cent per gallon increase in the gasoline tax. Al Gore vigorously agreed with him. Other
Democrats demanded a 25 cent gas tax against “global warming”. Democratic House Speaker Tom Foley endorsed the proposal: “I’d have a five-cent increase every year for five years.” They eventually pushed through a 4.3 cent increase.
Gary Hart - “I certainly favor consumption taxes, particularly on energy.” Then there’s John Kerry, who favored a 50-cent increase in the gas tax in 1994. Nancy Pelosi wants to directly tax the oil companies, to push up gas prices that way. She also strongly pushed for “cap and trade” that would drive up fuel prices significantly.
Democrat controlled New York state pushed through an additional 40-cent state gas tax. This is a common theme at the state level in Democrat controlled states.
Their “reasons” for wanting this are downright bizarre.
First of all, they want to discourage people from driving cars. Instead they want them to use mass transit in the cities. They also do not want the public to leave the cities, because the Democrats believe that people will “disturb nature”, so should be kept out of it, except for environmentalists. Think Agenda 21 with this.
They are just generally opposed to energy in any form, be it coal, natural gas, petroleum, nuclear, whatever. The only kind they are in favor of are incapable of meeting even a tiny fraction of our energy needs.
So it is utterly amazing that when gas prices do go up, they blame everyone else for it and say they want lower gas prices. Yes, they think that everyone else are imbeciles.
Energy is freedom. A free people can do plenty about it.
“...the look on his face was priceless...”
Scu*bag.
These f*&^%$g morons go around thinking they’re the brightest of the brightest and yet they are some of the dumbest S%^$#*&s on the face of the earth.
The worst part is that they are as arrogant as the
worst despots.
