Stacey Dash: I picked my candidate by the content of his character

Remember that time Rep. Paul Ryan called Dionne Davenport to chat?

Stacey Dash breaks the news to Alicia Silverstone that it’s Paul Ryan on the line.

Stacey Dash, the actress best-known for playing Dionne in “Clueless,” announced her support for Mitt Romney in this utterly innocuous tweet last week.

After that, her replies predictably and sadly erupted in abuse, with accusations that the black actress was betraying her race, was a “house negro,” “oreo,” and worse. You know, because tolerance.

Dash, who most recently starred in the VH1 drama “Single Ladies,” said she was “shocked and saddened” by the response in an appearance on Piers Morgan’s CNN show. Morgan was surprisingly sympathetic, expressing equal surprise that “one innocuous tweet from you, purely because you’re an actress and the color of your skin, sparked this kind of mayhem.”

In the wake of the mayhem, Dash said she got a call from Ryan, who “said ‘thank you so much for your support’.”

“I thought that was just so generous and kind. Lovely, really,” she said, with a smile on her face. Hey girl, I’d have a smile on my face, too.

Easy to say/do when you compare the character of the two candidates.

It use to be if you didn’t sleep with the producer, you’d get ‘’you’ll never work in this town again’’. Now it’s if you dare speak out positive on any conservative view, you’re on the next bus outta town

True, and in that sense, maybe it wasn’t so easy for her to do being “Hollywood.” Stacey, I love you.

Very saddened to hear of the response to her political choice but then we have known for a long time that the libs are the most intolerant bunch on the face of the earth. I wish her well in the future.

She says she’s a Democrat who voted for Obama in ‘08. I don’t think she realized what she’d be in for when she made this statement.

I don’t think she knew she’d be called a traitor to her race. I don’t think she knew she’d be potentially blacklisted by Hollywood Liberals. I don’t think she knew that she’d be accused of being out of step with single women. In other words, I doubt she’s ever heard the term “identity politics”.

She seems like a very nice person who is Liberal on most issues and hangs around with other Liberals, and is completely oblivous to what happens when a Liberal with any kind of public persona strays from the flock. Especially a Black, single, Hollywood actress saying that she’s voting against a Black President.

I think she’s typical of most Liberals, who hear about what “haters” Conservatives are, but have no idea the kind of hatred that Liberals reserve for, not just unabashed Conservatives, but for anyone who steps out of line.
