For the first week of this election season, Mitt Romney is outspending President Barack Obama on television ads, with the Republican challenger dipping into a war chest amassed from an aggressive fundraising schedule.

Mr. Romney will spend about $16.8 million on television ads this week, according to ad-tracking data provided by media buyers, while Mr. Obama will spend about $15.5 million, down 30% from a week earlier, when the campaign spent heavily to air a two-minute, pre-debate spot.

When spending by independent super PACs is included, the mismatch is wider. Mr. Romney and his allies will combine for $31.4 million this week, compared with $19.7 million for Mr. Obama and his supporters, according to data from one media tracker.

My current favorite killer ad, from American Crossroads:

It’s likely to long for most ad buys, maybe they’ll do a shorter version.

Romney wasn’t wasting his money. He held back while obama blew a few hundred million, smoked him in the debate, and now will spend beaucoup money in targeted areas.

It’s called strategy and smart money management. That’s why we need a guy like Romney in the Oval Office

People who gave money to Obama may want their money back.
He wasted our tax money and he wasted his campaign money foolishly. How much money has Obama wasted? How much money did he spend we do not have?

I also think that the tough primary focused him. He had to have good debates, he saw how Newt was rejuvenated after a stellar debate performance.

Lots of ads in VA.. lots of persuasion mail too. They have both campaign ads, back to back and sometimes three in a row. I like the ones where Obama says “I approved this message” at the end of his ad and next Romney ad starts sticking it to him.

“For the first week of this election season, Mitt Romney is outspending President Barack Obama on television ads, with the Republican challenger dipping into a war chest amassed from an aggressive fundraising schedule.”

ROTFLMAO! The only reason Romney is now outspending Obama is because the Romney campaign was too stupid to purchase air time months ago. Thus they’re paying hand over fist for the same spots the Obama campaign ordered at a cut rate awhile ago. And this guy was the most “electable?” Fail.

That is true in some cases and false in others. First, by paying a premium the Romney ads are guaranteed the specific slot, such as Wheel of Fortune. Second, Romney, unlike Obama, is using in-house staff rather than an external consulting firm with overhead fees. Third, on the broadcast networks Romney’s ad strategy secures a rebate, which can be invested in the following week or pocketed. By contrast, to obtain the cheaper rates, Obama has to air ads in states they’ve now given up on, such as NC.

“I feel like I am voting in North Korea.”

Don’t bad mouth North Korea. California is much more bankrupt than that country. In fact, California is the most bankrupt state in the nation. Oops, my home state of Illinois is the most bankrupt per capita. I think they’re both blue states. Surely a coincidence.
