A Turkish newspaper reported Wednesday the Iranian branch of the Kurdistan Workers' Party terror group has struck a deal with Tehran to fight Turkey. The report indicates a rapidly-developing trend towards a broad unity of Kurds in a pact with Iran against its western neighbor, furthering the chances of a regional war.

The news was revealed in a confession that came from a PKK (Turkish Kurdistan Workers' Party) terrorist who allegedly surrendered to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), Today's Zaman reported, quoting the Sabah daily newspaper.

According to the report, the deal brokered between the Iranian wing of the PKK, known as the Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK) and the Iranian government will allow PJAK to operate along the Turkish border unmolested by the Tehran government.

The report also alleged the PKK was responsible for ordering recent deadly attacks on the Turkish-Syrian border, with some 700 PKK operatives sent to help Syrian Kurdish terrorists.

Kurds don't hate Iranians -- Kurds ARE Irani. Iranic peoples are a wide ranging group: the ancient Scythians were led by Irani tribes and the Sarmatians and Alans were both Irani speakers

Modern day Irani tribes are: Persians (65% or so of Iran), Azeris (these are of Irani ethnicity but speak a Turkic language after having being conquered by Turkic speakers in the 10th century, just as the modern day "Turks" were), Kurds (descendants of the ancient Medians), Baluchis (who are both in Iran's Sistan-e-Balochistan province and in Pakistan's largest, western-most and most sparsely populated province of Baluchistan) and Lurs, Gilaki, Tabari etc. who are all Irani people who live in Iran, but note that they are distinct from Persians (just as within the Germanic langauge group you have Bavarians or those speaking a Standard German dialect or Dutch people)

Outside Iran you have Azeris, then Kurds, then Tajiks (all Moslems) and Indian Parsis (Zoroastrians) and Ossetians (Eastern Orthodox) who are all Irani peoples

Also there are tales of Croats being descendents of Sarmatians and also the fact that Alans went rampaging in Western Europe so could have descendents among French, Spaniards, English, Italians, Americans etc.

Well, thats the way it looks to me too. I can’t see the downside of this right now. If they are fighting each other it weakens Iran’s fight aganst Israel.

Seems odd, but Biden might have had it right. Give the Kurds the northern part of Iraq as a homeland. Then as far as I am concern the Shiites and Sunnis could have fought it out for the other 2/3 of the country.

We should have armed the Kurds to the teeth, them let them take on Iran and Syria. Turkey being part of NATO would have had to stay out of it.

Oh well.
