Romney rebukes Obama campaign on Libya, says nation deserves answers By Jonathan Easley - 10/11/12 06:53 PM ET
Mitt Romney rebuked the Obama campaign on Thursday after a top official said the attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya was only a political issue "because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan."
“No President Obama,” Romney said at campaign rally in Asheville, N.C. “It’s an issue because this is the first time in 33 years a U.S. ambassador has been assassinated. It’s an issue because … we were attacked by terrorists on the anniversary of 9/11.
“This is an issue because Americans wonder why it was it took so long for you … to admit this was a terrorist attack. This is a very serious issue, these are very serious questions and the American people deserve very serious answers, and I hope they come soon.”
Stephanie Cutter, the deputy campaign manager for Obama, on Thursday accused Republicans of playing politics with the consulate attack and said pressure from the Romney campaign was the “entire reason” the issue had persisted.
"We would have told the American people what we knew and, you know, in terms of the politicization of this — we're here at a debate, and I hope we get to talk about the debate — but the entire reason that this has become the, you know, political topic it is, is because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. It's a big part of their stump speech and it's reckless and irresponsible," Cutter said during an interview with CNN.
Cutter’s comments drew quick fire from the right, coming just a day after the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a hearing that raised fresh questions about whether security lapses at the consulate were a factor in the deaths of U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three others.
Cutter stuck with her message after the interview, tweeting that "Romney has politicized Libya [with] no plans of his own," and said the president's "priorities are getting facts and bringing terrorists to justice."
She later released a statement that noted Romney had come under criticism for his reaction to the attack on the U.S. embassy in Cairo, which also took place on Sept. 11, the same day the U.S. Consulate in Libya was attacked.
The White House has changed its account of the events in Libya after saying it initially appeared the Benghazi attacks were related to a crude anti-Muslim video that sparked protests in Egypt.
At the White House press briefing on Wednesday, press secretary Jay Carney said officials had initially spoken "based on the facts we knew at the time" and that the White House has always insisted "this was an ongoing investigation."
"This is a moving picture," Carney said, adding that "our sole interest — the president's sole interest — is to find out exactly what happened."
The issue will likely be raised during the vice presidential debate Thursday night, and at the presidential foreign policy debate later this month.
The families of those four murdered Americans deserve some answers too. Barry and the ‘RATS need to knock it off with the bogus YouTube clip BS. That BS isn’t working.
Why is the Obama Administration botching this so badly?
They have lied from the get-go and are now trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Yeah, WE probably armed the terrorists and told them to play nice in their great big sandbox because WE are naive enough to think arming 20th cave men is going to turn out well. Or maybe just financed them with lots of stimulus fund $$$ which had the same outcome.
I suspect that they are covering up supplying weapons to the Islamic rebels, and then those same weapons were used to attack the consulate. Seals were there not to provide security, but to try to get the weapons back. Also a coverup on not providing requested security at our consulates. It stinks that Obama provides weapons and money to our enemies, and not to our own people. Obama is to blame for those four deaths. He can't pin this on Romney, despite Stephanie Cutter saying so.
The question that I do not see being asked is, ‘How come on the anniversary of 9/11, security was not beefed up around the world where it needed to be?’.
Of course we have since learned that the Amb.’s request for additional security was turned down. In fact, the security was reduced for budgetary reasons? Theys got some explaining to do.
That is part of it. But they need to tie this into Obama's Libyan foreign policy failure and lack of security on 9/11 of all times. This was not only incompetence. Obama's policies helped foster the environment making it easier for terrorists to succeed. In other words Obama caused this mess.... and I haven't forgotten about Eqypt. Obama screwed up two countries who denigrated our embassy & consulate. There is more here than the cover-up.

On wired.com there is acknowledgement by the State Dept. that they were seeing things” almost as they happen”.
That doesn’t explain 12 days of lying to the American public
That doesn’t explain the commercial apology tour to Pakistan
That doesn’t explain a 27 delay in getting the FBI invesitgators on site
That doesn’t explain why family of survivors have to wait further for an explaination why their loved ones were MURDERED
That still doesn’t explain why the Libyian security chief was taking pictures immediately prior to the attack , or which Libyian official told him days previous to the attack to “stand down”
That still doesn’t explain the assasination of the Libyian security chief today
That still doesn’t explain why the White House and State Dept. continue to obfiscate , lie , and decieve almost a month after the fact
We deserve answers .. and not more lies !

I love how Romney says “you” all the time instead of something stupid like “administration”
The only thing that is a “moving picture” is the administration’s every changing story.
My theory is .. somebody in the admin paid to have the “video” made. That person either came up with the idea, or someone else presented the idea - and it was agreed it should be done .. meaning there could be more than one person who would be involved in this “cover-up”.
My premise is .. the admin did this because they already had reports that a terrorist attack was coming. Besides the 230 other incidents which had occurred showing the admin it was possible the terrorists would really attack us.
If the admin knew about the possibility of attacks, then the “video” was a perfect cover-up for a “terrorist attack” and could thus be used to label the attack a “mob protest” because of the insult to Islam.
This also might explain why Egypt sent out the “apology” early .. without realizing that we had not identified who attacked the consulate. Somebody in Egypt must have been ready and waiting in case there was an attack .. to put out the notice that it was a “video”, thus covering up the whole incident.
The fact they wouldn’t give the Ambassasor or any of his staff the needed security tells me something important: THIS ADMIN WILL NOT EVER DO ANYTHING TO PROTECT ME IN CASE OF AN ATTACK.
That fact really makes me angry .. because protecting the citizens of this country IS THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PRESIDENT.
Also, never forget that the left’s view of having military power or bombs is this: If everybody has the same amount of stuff (including nukes) - then there wouldn’t be any wars. Madeline Albright actually said that publically. That proves to me these people have no clue.

I forgot one more important thing .. Hillary Clinton, as Secretary of State, has the sole responsibility for ANY embassy and its staff. She has tried to cover her own behind by sending Susan Rice out to take the fall.
Hillary Clinton needs to be held responsible for the deaths of 4 Americans, and the bombing of our “property”. ANY embassy or consulate on foreign soil - is designated as AMERICAN SOIL.

What i cant fathom...Clinton actually mentioned the “video”..while standing in front of 4 coffins, knowing all along it was a lie. Shes finished politically.
Clinton was impeached for less.
Nixon resigned for less.
