“I’ve been hearing the same carrot/stick routine for years now re ‘new servers / bigger pipe / etc etc’ and performance has only gotten slower over time. there’s NO WAY IN HELL this site will cope with a Presidential election in 26 DAYS ! I love FR, but these ridiculous lag times just ain’t kosher . . .”

After a post at the beginning, I gave up. I played a game while I watched the debate since this is so frustrating. It will be worse on election day, so there’s no point in coming to a live thread.

agreed...it’s basically impossible

and I thought our alexa traffic stats were down markedly from the old days

hence why are we so slow

this thread is only a 1200 posters run

back in the day...yes kids..i’m old...we had huge running threads of 1000s and more traffic in general

what gives?

Thanks for your comments, y'all .. and for the link to Jim's reply, Dave.

I shut it down and went to bed about 2330, so just saw them this morning.

Jim, you and John have my very best of wishes for figuring out the kink in the hose, whatever/wherever it is.

As a diagnostic fyi, while FR was crawling last night, my weather sites, work-related stuff, zap tv, etc were all zipping along, so it wasn't just general grousing due to slow gear here.

Anyway .. happy TGIF to one and all   :-)
