Could we start by not supporting al-Qaeda?
You’re right we should not have doublecrossed Mubarak and Quaddafi. Mubarak was an ally of the U.S. for decades, who supported peace with Israel. Now we have the Muslim Brotherhood to deal with.
As for Quaddafi, we made peace with the man, and then we doublecross him. And for what? To allow Muslim radicals to take control, and for our ambassador to be killed?
It makes me sick that in Syria, a 2,000 year old Christian community may be on the verge of elimination. The Assad regime actually has one of the best records on religious freedom in the Middle East.
One would wish that a minimum would be not arming al Queda and providing some protection to the Christians there.
