You are obviously too young to remember Kid Gavilan, and my Sainted Mother. The Bolo Punch comes from Cuba, where it follows the trajectory of a cane cutter's upward stroke with the machete.

It's an uppercut that starts well below the waist and crosses the body. Deadly, comes from nowhere and you don't see it coming. My Sainted Mother could have taken out Kid Gavilan AND Carmen Basilio.
