I remember Gore standing next to Bush and staring him down.

I remember Bush's reaction too-- he sort of did a small double take and looked at Gore as if to say "WTF you doin' there, Geek?" Then went on with his answer. I hope Romney gets to do that when Obama over reaches, as he is bound to do.
