Perhaps they are reluctantly fulfilling their responsibility but in a minimal way. Their hearts aren't in it they way it would be if the issue was about distributing wealth or opening the borders.
I know that seems harsh but considering their (continuing) history what else is one to think?
It would be nice if the knives in the back weren’t from fellow Christians.
