PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (AP) Republicans Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan went back to school on Saturday to rally college students in all corners of all-important Ohio and hammer at President Barack Obama for going easy on China over unfair trade practices. Obama took precious time off the campaign trail to practice for the next debate against his GOP rival.
It was an unspoken acknowledgment of the importance that Obama attaches to upping his game in Debate No.2 that the president is largely dropping out of sight for five straight days in the final weeks of the race to prepare for Tuesday's encounter in Hempstead, N .Y.
Even while cloistered for debate prep at a sprawling resort in Williamsburg, Va., though, the president didn't completely cede the spotlight to Romney. His weekly radio and Internet address highlighted the Obama administration's work to revive the U.S. auto industry a message aimed squarely at working-class voters in manufacturing-heavy states like Ohio.
Romney, for his part, told a crowd of more than 3,000 people at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth that Obama was ducking an important decision on whether China is manipulating its currency to gain a trade advantage. A decision was due on Monday, but the Treasury Department said Friday the decision won't come until after global finance officials meet in early November. That means a decision is unlikely before the Nov. 6 election.
"It's time for us to stand up to China for their cheating," Romney declared. "It's got to stop."

It was an unspoken acknowledgment of the importance that Obama attaches to upping his game in Debate No.2 that the president is largely dropping out of sight for five straight days in the final weeks of the race to prepare for Tuesday's encounter in Hempstead, N .Y.........................He knows his ass is on line and he better be ready for the next round.
5 ‘straight’ days .... he’s got to be just miserable on more than one level.
Its to late for Obastard. The train has left the station and he is standing on the tracks in front of it.
All Romney has to do is run like he is 20 points behind all the way till the election.
Lots of polls in here on other states, but it’s Ohio Romney needs. He loses Ohio, it’s all over.
As long as Romney doesn’t say anything the media can run with and make a big deal over in the next debate, he should be okay. He really doesn’t have to cream zerO again because it’s a townhall style which makes it very difficult to be aggressive and combative. The time for Obama was the first debate.
Sure Obama will do well talking about how he’s going to help all the liberals who undoubtedly will be in the audience whining about not getting enough from Gov’ment but, that’s not what the majority of Americans want to hear from leaders.
The funny thing is in this kind of townhall debate Romney has to be more careful about offending the base of his own party. If he gets too “Gee I agree there needs to be more____ (fill in the blank)” just to look like a nice guy to the lib audience, he’s gonna lose some conservatives.
Romney needs to stick to the smaller less intrusive government princples regardless of the sad sack “WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA my insurance cut me off and now im homeless” kind of questions he’s definitely going to get.
I hate townhall debates. HATE THEM.
The funniest part of this whole thing is Obama having practice debates against John F’n Kerry. Just imagine, John Kerry trying to present the common sense conservative point of view! Try to imaging Kerry getting in Obamas face! He’ll probably apologize for asking rude questions and beg forgiveness.
Considering one of the threads posted about the OH SOS suing to restrict early voting to military and BHO’s campaign trying to scuttle that, I’m very nervous about the outcome.
Some days, there is news that makes me so confident about a RR win, others (like I just mentioned) just suck the wind out of the sails.
its just such a climb for any Republican to win anymore ..when you start off with no shot in California+ New York+ Illinois then toss in PA, NJ, MA, WA, OR, MN...that’s a hell of a hill to climb when you depend on eeking out a win by a point or two in Florida and less than that in Ohio ...if you stumble in either one of those two you have absolutely no shot ....and with demographics the way they are, you are going to be fighting an uphill battle in Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada...soon Arizona...and then the doomsday is Texas and it’s coming .....
Yeah - interesting headline on the Yahoo home page - “Romney Not Giving up on Ohio” - and I guess those reading it are supposed to infer that there is good reason that he should be giving up on Ohio - sheeessshhh......
Romney thinks he's behind and needs to push a little harder here . . . or
Romney knows he's ahead and wants to seal the deal and leave no shot for Zero.
Obama, on the other hand, has no shot (I think) if he doesn't just dominate the next debate.
Guess we'll see.
Did Romney make two speeches in Ohio today?
Here’s a video of a speech he gave today in Lebanon, Ohio. Great speech and scroll down to the amazing size of the crowd—11,000 came out to see Romney.

Yes, he had two campaign events today in OH.
He’s maxed out after about 15 mins. Not too worry

I wonder who replaced John Kerry in the practice debates?
I think voters in these States might be looking at the special attention Obama is giving Ohio and there could be a backlash. But I am confident Ohio is going to be win for the GOP.
