Navy Sub, Cruiser Collide Off Florida

Two Navy vessels collided this afternoon off the coast of northeastern Florida, there were no injuries aboard the submarine and cruiser involved in the collision.
According to a Navy statement the submarine USS Montpelier (SSN 765) and the Aegis cruiser USS San Jacinto (CG 56) collided at approximately 3:30 p.m. ET.
The statement adds that there were no injuries aboard either ship and that the submarine's nuclear powered reactor "was unaffected by this collision."
The incident is under investigation...

Yeap. The short list would be the CO, XO, Weps, OOD, and Sonar Supervisor, and potentially the Fire Control operator on the Sub.

The anti-submarine exercise seems to have been a complete success. Well, maybe not complete success since it was the wrong sub.

Not necessarily. Operating shallow is the responsibility of the submarine, not surface crafts.Unless it comes out that the CG was in an area designated as restricted to surface ships for exercise purposes I would be very surprised if any disciplinary action is taken against them. The sub watch team on the other hand is toast.
