SANTA FE SPRINGS (AP) — Authorities say a 62-year-old employee was cooked to death at a Southern California seafood plant for tuna maker Bumble Bee Foods

The Whittier Daily News reports Jose Melena was found Thursday shortly before 7 a.m. at the plant in Santa Fe Springs. California Division of Occupational Safety and Health spokeswoman Erika Monterroza says t’s unclear how the man ended up inside a cooking device called a “steamer machine.”

The state department has launched an investigation into the accident.

In a written statement, Bumble Bee Foods spokesman Pat Menke expressed condolences to Melena’s family and says operations at the canning facility will be suspended at the plant until Monday.

No one know how he ending up in the machine?
Perhaps, Instead of sleeping with the fishes, he’s steam bathing with the fishes? 62 yo worker knew too much.

Bumble Bee isn’t very good salmon.

Now I guess I know why.

Bumble Bee is headquartered in San Diego and is owned by Lion Capital LLP, a British private equity firm.

Good thing it wasn't owned by Bain Capital.

For his sake, I hope he was cooking in oil. Tuna in oil is certainly better tasting than tuna in water.

I think this is why so many people insist on voting “early” these days. You never know.

That’s what he gets for driving a Stingray to work. It. He’d blown a seal in it, but everyone figured it was a lifestyle choice. His friends all called him Marlin and he was one heck of a bass player.

Reminds me of a ‘friend’ of mine that died in an industrial accident.
He worked at a brewery and fell into a vat of beer and drowned.

Witnesses say he climbed out five times to go to the head as he didn’t want to ‘whizz’ in the beer.
