Marrying children is a time-honored practice all over the world. Gandhi got married when he was 11, to an 11-year-old, and later in life refused to ever boink her again. Hmm.....true, Elvis began dating Priscilla when she was fourteen, with the approval of her Air Force colonel Dad (both were stationed in Germany in the late 1950’s), but IIRC the relationship was not consumated until Elvis married Priscilla when she was in her early twenties.
