the democrat brand means "We give you free stuff and tell you what you want to hear and in return we are somewhat corrupt"

the republican brand means "We tell you what you need to hear and our candidates are more talented than their candidates."

Akin is messing with the republican brand. He came close to sinking Romney and the other senate candidates. The fact that he refused to resign for the good of the party (and there were plenty of solid candidates to take his place) tells me he is unfit as a republican for public office.
