DECATURVILLE, Tenn. - The Decatur County Sheriff's Office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating a weekend shooting in Decatur County.
According to the TBI, officials were called to the scene in the 2200 block of Beacon Road around 5:00 a.m., Sunday.
Investigators said Cameron Mays was shot and killed in the incident. The resident of the home reportedly told Mays not to come to his home. When Mays entered, officials said the resident shot him.
Authorities are investigating the case and trying to determine if the shooting was self-defense. The shooter has not been charged.
Maybe it’s also a good idea to keep your doors locked..........
But no matter the circumstances, if the homeowner orders you to leave and you advance on him, your a** is his.
I bought a second home in that area recently, very rural, lots of acres. Here in Nashville I can get hassled by the HOA for stupid stuff, but out there things are different. When I say “get off my lawn” (or property) I can back it up with a display of overwhelming firepower and not get arrested. Out there it is a lot like the way things used to be a couple generations ago, before all the intrusive laws, back when people took care of matters themselves.
