The Twitter-verse erupted this week with threats to riot or assassinate Mitt Romney should President Barack Obama lose the Nov. 6 election.
This brings up a few questions. Is this a reflection of real outrage being felt in the black community? If its real, does it reflect the sentiment of a small or a large segment of the black community? Or is this manufactured outrage being used for a broader purpose?
Americans have rioted before for lesser reasons. Simply having their favorite team win the Super Bowl or World Series has led to riots in cities like Boston, Detroit, Denver and Los Angeles. In Lexington, Ky., fans of the Kentucky Wildcats were setting fires and firing guns within minutes of watching their team win the NCAA Basketball Championship in April.
In Cincinnati in 2001, people rioted for three days after police shot 19-year-old Timothy Thomas. Riots broke out in more than 100 U.S. cities in 1968 following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. Those riots came just three years after the infamous Watts riots in Los Angeles that began when a small crowd began throwing rocks at a California Highway Patrol officer who had stopped a drunk driver. People rioted in Newark, N.J., over an incident that never happened after a rumor began that police had killed a black cab driver they had in custody.
Theres no denying that blacks saw a rise in their self-esteem and the reinforcement of America as a land of equal opportunity following Obamas 2008 election. Obamas defeat after just four years could be seen as a major blow to that self-esteem and a pivot back toward black oppression.
Add to that divisive rhetoric from both political parties, a voting base ginned up over the ongoing loss of freedom (real), and the threat (just imagined) that Republicans are going to take away entitlements, ongoing economic hardships and a high rate of unemployment (for whites 7 percent, for blacks 13.4 percent), and you have the makings for trouble.
I have written before that food stamps and welfare are all that are staving off riots like those that have occurred in Greece and Spain. Those who live in or near congested areas should take extra precautions of the prevailing mood as Election Day draws near. If real, the outrage could lead to days and weeks of unrest. If manufactured, the outrage could be serving a broader purpose of pushing the United States toward martial law.

Update 10:30 a.m.
According to Twitchy assassination threats increased following the debate.

This just says way too much. I hope the link works.
If not just search EBT on youtube. sure to make you puke.
Oh the horrors that whitey will take away those pesky EBT cards..
Much as I agree with Republicans on limiting entitlements, they really don't emphasize enough the government's role in throwing regulatory sand in the gears of employment, and the oppressive burden of payroll taxes on job creation.
The attack on entitlement spending has to be multi-pronged.
Sooner the better...
No one is going to riot over obama losing. He’s not worth it.
Is Post-Election Riot Threat Real?

The Mormons are going to riot when their high priest Willard loses ???
Is this another threat and tactic from arch bishop Willard ???
Yes!
I said the same thing in 2000 and I was proven correct..
Frum's "Gore Speaks" 19 Nov., 2002 column
KARENNA GORE: [Ms Gore describes the "right wing" crowd outside screaming things like "get out of Vice President Cheney's house"] And my whole attitude was, like, "We've got to fight back harder. And where are our crowds?" And my dad, I'll never forget his response. He said, "We have to do what's best for the country, and it is not good for the country to have this kind of divisiveness.["] And he was on the phone, really calling off the dogs. There were people who wanted to fan the the flames of the racial issue and have real unrest. And he was on the phone asking them not to, because of what was best for the country not because of what was best for him politically. And that's really who he is.
[Her father Al Gore] was on the phone, really calling off the dogs. There were people who wanted to fan the the flames of the racial issue and have real unrest. And he was on the phone asking them not to . . . .
What the hell else could that mean? The 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radicals (psycho spoiled brats), et al stirred up many a riot in the 1960s. And they have had control of the Democratic Party since the 1970s.
No question in my mind that the MSM coordinated.. for days the news was full of references to the "will of the people." I fully expected rioting and subsequent calls for Bush to step aside and accept "the will of the people."
>> Time for them to learn theyre only 12% of the population, once and for all.
... And by the time the looting rioting fools actually MAKE IT into the burbs and rural areas... their numbers will have been reduced to about 6% to 9% of the population.
If you know what I mean (and I think you do).
“Someone on twitter said Let em. We have the guns and know how to use them. ;)”
No, they have all the illegal guns. Fast and Furious...
The going thought is that Obama loses, and black people riot in outrage. What if it goes the other way? What if Obama wins through obviously illegal means?
Black people won't riot then, will they?
But will anyone?
As I've said on many threads, I see two outcomes from a stolen election:
1) GOP rolls over, and Obama gets four more years.
2) We get a hot civil war in this country as citizens go to war against their government.
Think about someone who hates this country. Think about someone who wants to destroy this country. Of the two scenarios above -- which one would be displeasing? I say neither outcome would make Obama sad.
WRONG
A hell of a lot of DIMS in Los Angles fully expect him to win, and if he doesn't, I'll bet there are violent reactions.
Let ‘em riot! They usually burn their own neighborhoods any way!
They come my way they pay a heavy price for acting treasonous!
So bring it...I need the live fire exercise.
that should have been ‘Los Angeles’
(Looks around. Empty street and the sound of a lonely prairie wind.)
OK, well, never mind.
Bammy don’t get the lovin from his peeps that he used to get.
I’m predicting some unrest but on a limited scale.
Ah...she’s cute.
Reminds Old Ben of back in the day...
To quote Hillbuzz from a day or two ago:
“There is as much chance of blacks rioting over Obamas loss on November 6th as there is of zombies rising from graves and ending our society in an undead apocalypse that day. I know tee-vee shows about this are fun to watch and are exciting, but this is not reality. Black people are not unthinking monsters who riot over some perceived outrage. That would be Muslims.”
I for one refuse to accept the Leftist Regressive stereotype of black people as being inferior and controlled by their base emotions. As a conservative Christian, I believe Black people are equal in God’s sight, and unlike Democrat Regressives I look up to many of them and admire and respect them.
