A woman needs to have sex far less often for the species to reach maximum reproduction, because once pregnant there is no reproductive purpose to them having sex. Our genetic code "knows" this and has written the emotions into our programming to motivate us towards maximum reproductive behavior. This means men will want sex far more often than women do, and the natural economic laws of supply and demand determine the rest.
