(Reuters) - The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits rose last week, reversing a sharp decline in the prior week but still pointing to a labor market that is slowly healing.

The prior week's figure was revised up to show 3,000 more applications than previously reported to 342,000.

A Labor Department official said it appeared that state-level administrative issues were distorting the data.

How a decline in jobs numbers are reported when a Democrat is President:

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits rose last week, reversing a sharp decline in the prior week but still pointing to a labor market that is slowly healing.

Same content, Republican President:
The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits rose last week wiping out gains from the prior week returning the labor market to the edge of the cliff.

If I was Romney I would make a national address a couple of days in to my term and tell the American people the truth about the unemployment rate and how it has been fudged since the early 90s by excluding people who have exhausted their UE benefits or have become too discouraged to continue looking.
They are just as unemployed as they ever were.

The truth would shock people into realizing how bad things really are but would set a true benchmark from which Romney’s policies can be fairly judged.

It is indefensible that the government gets away with lying every month about the state of the job market.

To my neighbor with a wife and 3 kids who got laid off last week it’s 100%. It’s a depression.

They had to change the headlines.

The google search show the original headlines: “Rise Sharply”

The affirmative action department had the state media soften the headlines.

As it is to all those millions who have completely given up on finding a job in Obama's economic ruin. I can easily picture most of them voting against Obama with true malice.
