Now the president and his supporters are attacking Romney because his long-term budget blueprint calls for money-saving reforms to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, three of the biggest drivers of deficit spending. Obama would be more credible in critiquing the proposal if he had a serious alternative for bringing entitlement spending under control. He doesn't.
Romney is not our ideal candidate for president. We've been turned off by his appeals to social conservatives and immigration extremists. Like most presidential hopefuls, including Obama four years ago, Romney faces a steep learning curve on foreign policy.
But the core of Romney's campaign platform, his five-point plan, at least shows he understands that reviving the economy and repairing the government's balance sheet are imperative now, not four years in the future.
Romney has a strong record of leadership to run on. He built a successful business. He rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics from scandal and mismanagement. As governor of Massachusetts, he worked with a Democrat-dominated legislature to close a $3billion budget deficit without borrowing or raising taxes, and pass the health plan that became a national model.
This is Romney's time to lead, again. If he doesn't produce results even with a hostile Senate we'll be ready in 2016 to get behind someone else who will.
We reject the innuendo that some critics have heaped on the president. We don't think he's a business-hating socialist. We don't think he's intent on weakening the American military. We don't think he's unpatriotic. And, no, we don't think he was born outside the United States.
But after reflecting on his four years in the White House, we also don't think that he's the best qualified candidate in this race.
We endorse Mitt Romney for president.

Knock me over with a feather! Did they endorse Grayson or Nellie, though?
Such an effective endorsement - they come across as unbiased, but simply say that Mitt Romney is more qualified.
People are more receptive to that.
I am with you. I saw the headline, and clicked fully expecting to see a glowing endorsement of The One. Shocking, and telling at the same time.
I wonder if Mr. Obama will see in 2 months that the only reason he ever got to the White House WAS the color of his skin, and not his ideas. I hope he awakens to this truth the vast majority of people know as truth. It was white guilt that propelled him into rock star status. He might have a silver tongue, but his ideas are killing the apparatus that creates wealth in America.
These newspapers have zero credibility. They are shills for the left and then once a year in 4 years they endorse a Republican, big whoop
Good news...thanks for posting.
Well, he's either a business-hating socialist or he and his advisers are the dumbest collection of dimwits on the face of the planet.
This is good. Individually, such endorsement doesn’t do much, but together, it provides the environment needed for independents and independent-minded Democrats to feel good for voting for Romney that many people vote are doing the same.

Tennesseean agrees and endorsed Romney
The Sentinel is part of the Chicago Tribune chain.
Yes he is, yes he is, yes he is, and....yes he is.
Good old Sentinel. Covering his ass even as they throw him overboard.

At any rate, I was in Downtown O last weekend...didn't see any Obama signs or bumper stickers...saw Romney signs most every block east of the Amway Arena on 50....older section of town, Vietnamese shops, etc.
A lot of seniors still get the paper. The Sentinel is the largest paper outside of Tampa in the I-4 corridor. This is big and R&R will run with it.
I saw R&R signs in Winter Park last week. I always thought that area was full of dims. The kenyan is on the ropes! LOL.
Sorry but you're wrong here.
We have just seen two major newspapers (The Orlando Sentinel & The Tennessean) who endorsed Obama in 2008 and Kerry in 2004 switching to Romney for 2012.
That's significant.
Just about every newspaper in America runs AP stories as filler or stories from the NY Times and Wash Post.
They all want to be like the NY Times.
I remember in 2004 when the Dallas Morning News dismissed the AWOL crap as vetted and nothing there in an editorial and then followed with almost daily breathless reports attacking Bush and his NG service.
The editorial means little
