Major network? It's difficult to remember sometimes, but MSNBC is a part of NBC News and not an arm of Ringling Brothers. However, the clowns do come out at night, and Larry O'Donnell led the parade last night with one of the more ridiculous demonstrations of outrageous outrage in recent American broadcasting. O'Donnell takes Tagg Romney's joke about wanting to take a swing at President Obama when Obama kept asserting that his father was lying during the debate, and turns it into this Johnson-measuring moment that went on for almost three minutes.
And it wouldn't be complete without the gratuitous class-warfare nonsense, as O'Donnell whines about his underprivileged childhood as a way to suggest that Tagg can't handle himself mano a mano:
Real Clear Politics calls this "a tense moment." I'd use other adjectives, such as "embarrassing," "idiotic," "puerile," and "unprofessional." This is, though, apparently what NBC News believes enhances their credibility as a news organization. Hey, they have nowhere to go but up from this.

MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell challenged Mitt Romney’s son Tagg to a fight on his program tonight after Romney’s eldest said he wanted to swing at President Obama after the last debate where said he called his father a liar.
“Take a swing at me, and don’t worry, there won’t be any Secret Service involved. Just us. And I’ll make it easy for you. I’ll come to you anytime, anywhere. Go ahead Taggert, take your best shot,” O’Donnell said during a tense segment on his program tonight.
Any crosshairs involved here?
Crazy Larry is totally unhinged and possibly needs a CAT scan. Has he had a stroke? Perhaps a tumor? Get help Larry.
Maybe we can raise money for charity by selling raffle tickets for the opportunity to be a stand-in for Tagg...

Does anyone have any doubt that this is a ploy by a desperate man to get some ratings and some attention? He’s been unhinged for years. He needs professional help.

Well of course this makes perfect sense. Obama is a father figure to Lawrence O’Donnell. Or maybe a bath house figure. Anyway, why so serious? O’Donnell himself liberally used the term liar to “debate” swift boat veteran John O’Neill. I wonder if O’Neill had clocked him if O’Donnell would have found it acceptable behavior.
Tagg Romney is under Secret Service protection and due to that Larry O’Donnell should be arrested for saying that he wants to punch a Secret Service Protectee.

Well, MSNBC programing finally has been reduced to its logical end point. It generates ratings by having raging lunatics on to belittle and stoke hate against anything Republican and conservative. So why not advocate a fist fight with the son of the Republican nominee? Hell, why didn’t Larry challenge Mitt Romney to a fist fight? That would have been a better ratings-grabber.
Picture Neo in the Matrix. I’d of loved to see Tagg stand up, extend an uplifted palm towards Lawrence, and invite him to engage.
